I was pro gamergate. Duh.

But I thought it was really unfair that Zoe Quinn got so much of the attention. Her part in it was really more of a spark to the powder keg imo.

Even if she was screwing people for positive professional attention, so the hell what, its not her job NOT to do that. Its the journalists who have all the obligations of professionalism in that issue, Dont fuck people you will cover. If you do, declare it.

As far as Im concerned Zoe Quinns part in gamer gate should have ended as soon as it was announced and all the attention should have been on the journalist - Who then threw Zoe Quinn under the bus a bit by using her as a shield "Gamers are asking us questions, but really, everyone, look at this woman over here who is being attacked, 4Chan, look at this woman! What are you trolls going to do! What are you going to do, Trolls *Wink Wink* why don't we paint it as her vs the trolls, then the heats off us". And god damn it, but these ignorant fucking trolls bit and bit hard with shockingly little prompting - people should have forgotten about Zoe Quinn.

All of that is not my confession. My confession is this: Given all the bollocks going on around her right now, I kinda think she doesn't want gamergate to forget about her. I kinda think she thinks she needs gamergate, because why the hell else would she be trying so fucking hard to resurrect it, and why is she trying to force her way into the newly risen gamergate limelight?

My favorite shelter cat bit me on the mouth today. A staff member was in the room and saw it, I downplayed how much it hurt and the fact that it was bleeding a bit. It only slightly broke the skin. And I knew he'd be put in quarantine if it was recorded. And he's already been there for more than two months. He needs a home.

He's the sweetest cat ever. There were just a ton of people in the room looking at kittens, he got a bit overwhelmed, and nipped. Not a big deal as far as I'm concerned and not something that should go on his permanent record. He's still my favorite cat and I'd adopt him in a heartbeat if I could.

I think people are really two faced when complaining about toxic masculinity than mock guys for liking girly things. For example 'guy liking My Little Pony" complaints, which I take less seriously unless they're about a specific area of bad fan and not just "how dare they like this thing".

Also treating it like a novelty that MLP fandom can have bad parts or it's somehow extra bad because I've see girls being creepy fans for fucking years, including writing torture fics of female characters for being rivals to some slash OTP.

So I laugh in the faces of people who get all alarmist about MLP fandom and such NOW. Nobody really got concerned before.

I shun my old fandom friends' new fandoms. The more they rec them, the less likely I am to try them out because our tastes have diverged too much and they refuse to acknowledge it.

Holidays suck when you have a terminally ill loved one. Even though they're still with you, they can't do what they want to do, and it's not a Tiny TIm thing where they're all "oh but I am blessed for what I have." They're understandably sad and so are you. Everyone makes the best of it and it's fine, but that's just it - it's fine. Every single holiday is fine. And the first few holidays, whatever. Fine is still nice. But soon you realize they're all like that and it makes you a little sad.

Even on Father's Day, which you never really celebrated anyway.

Kinda based on the gamergate one. I'm not victim blaming, what happened to the people being harassed was awful, but I can't help think... this is why you don't add thousands of complete strangers to a public profile. I never told anyone my name on LJ. Why? Because even in 2002 I knew people were psycho.

I get that it's a different world, Dateline isn't telling people if they so much as get an email address they'll be stalked and murdered, but I wonder why anyone thinks putting their lives out there for everyone to find is a good idea.

If someone lists their pronouns as "he/him" AND "they/them" on their tumblr, I usually think "so she/her, got it" in my head. I don't misgender them to their faces, but nah, met too many tumblr "trans" kids to take that seriously.

I fucking hate the "how to care for an introvert" or "being friends with an introvert" or anything resembling it. Gotta be one of the most infantalizing and eye-rolling thing I've seen on the net.

Also the idea that all extraverts are party-goers and shallow thinkers. I can't take people seriously when they believe shit like that.

This sounds like a total troll, but it isn't, I wish homosexuality was an underground thing again.
I liked the thrill I used to get during that era of going out to do something illicit and a bit filthy. I wouldn't want to go back to the full on illegal days, but I kinda miss the underground scene days and the closet dance.

I've left anon hate before. I'm not proud of it, but the only reason I regret it is it gave the person a weird self important attitude and so every time they said even a little bit of a controversial opinion they would come with the "I know I'm going to get loads of anon messages but..."

I need to get my driver's license this summer. I desperately need a car in order to function.
I've done driving lessons, I was fine at them, but then I had to take a break (which ended up being 2 years...)... and now I'm terrified of driving again. It took me ages to overcome my fear the first time, and I'm frustrated that I'm back to being scared of it.

Also the streets are full of idiots who manage to drive no problem, so why is this such an issue for me??

I find the Philly Pride flag redesign to be disrespectful to the creator of the flag, the history of the flag design (it had a black stripe. the black stripe was in reference to those of us who died to AIDs.), and disrespectful of the generations of non-white queer people (who come in more shades than just 'black' and 'brown') who literally marched and lived and fought and died under that flag in the struggle for equal rights.

I don't think declawing cats is The Worst Thing You Can Do To A Cat.

I mean with the cats I've got now they're all clawed, but I've adopted declawed cats in the past and they've been good, happy cats. I've known mean, violent, bitey clawed cats too. I've known clawed cats with litterbox issues.

So I personally fall on the side of leaving them clawed, but I don't think people are literally satan if they declaw and otherwise give their cats happy lives with good vet care and etc..

I'm pissed off with my brother, and I know it's unreasonable, so I'm just going to sit on it and be grumpy until I just.. get over it?

See, the last time I visited the city where he lives, a few months ago, he said that I could, in future visits, sleep at his place. Well, I'm planning on visiting in a couple of months, and I asked if I could kip on his floor, to save on a hotel. He said no. Apparently, he and his wife are too stressed out to entertain guests at the moment.
So I'm annoyed because he's going back on what he said, and because hotels in that area aren't cheap, and because - what does he think I want? Breakfast in bed? I just want somewhere I can put my bag where no one will pinch it, somewhere I can put my sleeping mat, and bathroom access.
But it's entirely his right to say no, so I'm just gonna sulk for a while and try to deal.

I still have some linging feelings for my crush. I thought I was 100% over him but turn out I did not. It would never work out, I wish stupid feelings would just end and let me talk to him in peace.
