I mostly agree. It can work for me in limited circumstances when done really, really well (and even then it has to be used pretty sparingly) but it's mostly just not something I'm interested in spending a lot of time immersed in. Whereas historical fic with period-atypical acceptance of homosexuality... I love it.

I agree. I suspect that a lot of fic writers aren't interested in doing a ton of research and just want to get to the character interaction part, with the historical/factual aspect being window dressing at best. But I wish more writers would take the time to get the basic details right, or find a way around them so that they aren't including glaring errorrs.

I have a huge issue with RPF. It's a huge violation to privacy and personal boundaries especially since 99% of the time all their 'characterization' is based on inaccurate fantasies and false drama. These are real people and if you do not know them personally then don't pretend you know about them or their relationships, and if you do know them personally it's a creepy thing to do to have fantasies about your friends regardless.
I just don't see it as a live and let live thing either, simply because these are /real/ people, not fictional. Most of the time RPF shippers (that I've seen) go out of their way to let their ship know just how gay/in love they are with their co-star/bandmate. They seem to be the worst type of fan in that regard because a lot of what I've seen is that they actually believe there's something going on behind closed doors. Like you see what happened with the Supernatural fandom, it's literal harassment.

a lot of RPF make me think of that one woman from misery and that level of crazy. There are probably normal people out there who can tell the difference between reality and their own imposed fiction - but they sure as fuck do not show up on the internet.

I remember people saying Peter Capaldi was a great actor and a fine Doctor (after they got over complaining that he was "too old" to be the Doctor), but the writing didn't do him justice, so it's kinda funny now to hear people saying pretty much the same thing about Jodie Whittaker. I wasn't in the fandom before Twelve, so I don't know if people said similar things about previous Doctors. To me, the writing has felt a little disjointed at times, but that's really nothing new. I really disliked the writing during most of Eleven's run and I didn't like most of Ten's episodes with Rose.

I wouldn't say Messi is my fav since I'm more old school, but sorta feel bad for Messi when he plays for the Argentina team because is like the team relies on him and well, we saw what happened in Brazil 2014 and the Copa America in Chile and USA.

Ronaldo, by other hand, is an asshole so no fav for him.
