I didn't even really watch this show when I was a kid (I was a little too young, I think), but I remember seeing clips of it. Kinda sad she's being nuts now.

Memorial's Day always depresses me a bit. Mostly because it's the day where the news covers WWII vets and their stories. And each year how there are fewer and fewer of them. It's sad how those men and women are going from living and breathing people to stories told in past tense. In another generation, they will be all gone and I think it will be weird how the children of that generation, will see WWII as what my generation looked at the American Civil War or WWI. Not living, breathing stories but history that you read in books.

I'm not someone to kink-shame, usually, but oh god this trend needs to die already. I usually avoid A/B/O fics because I already know I won't like that kind of universe, but today I gave in to temptation because:

a) I was really craving porn with bottom!Q (this was a 00Q Skyfall fanfic)
b) I like the normal brand of D/s

I... I should have backbuttoned, really. The problem is, the fic was really well written and I've been cursed with the inability to stop reading something once I've started (so I suppose I kind of brought this on myself), but even though it kept my interest piqued I felt as if something was crawling on my skin and am now vaguely nauseous. The sex and lubricated assholes are not the problem, and while I don't look for MPREG because it doesn't interest me I don't mind it either. I don't even have a problem with the (admittedly problematic) matter of "ownership" (re: I do really like my D/s), though it being a biological imperative makes me rise my eyebrow. But the politics of a society composed with A/B/O dynamics is absolutely scary and reminds me too much of real-life sexism and rape culture to be anything but uncomfortable. What are these authors even thinking, holy fuck.

I need a drink. Never again.

And I think there needs to be more of 'em. :) I sometimes dislike them, but I love, love, love some of them (even the "skeevy" ones) but esp. the ones that turn the trope on its head.

A/B/O fans are really fricking defensive. I'm talking furry fandom levels of defensive. I honestly can't think of a nicer person here than Lynx but apparently she Crossed The Line.

Why is that? Why are people so defensive about certain fandoms/subsets of fandoms? I don't quite get it. We don't all like the same things. Was fandom always like this?

Her post was an attack. Why wouldn't people get defensive? She's even said she's sorry and that she went about it in the worst way.

We don't all like the same things. And that's exactly it. She doesn't like it and of course that's fine. It's also fine that other people do. But her original post made it seem like not only was she not ok with that but that there was something inherently wrong with A/B/O fans and they need to go away because they're ruining fandom.

Stuck in Japan and late to the party again, but I have observed an phenomenon I can't quite explain:

So, my school's gym is sadly lacking, and doesn't even have a chin-up/pull-up bar. Luckily, there's a public park near my apartment with a jungle gym that has a bar about the right height and width, so I saunter on down there in the evening/night to do some reps.

Now, this public park has other uses when the sun goes down - it's a frequent make-out spot for young couples. To the point that, were I to go only after the last of these were gone, I'd be finishing my workouts at 2 or 3 am, and man, I got shit to do the next day.

So, I go when I feel like going, put some headphones on, do my workout, and leave, like I didn't see anything. Of course, sometimes one can't help but notice when some dude has been glowering at you for the past ten minutes. What I noticed, though, is that it's always the dude who looks. His lady friend never spares me more than a passing glance, even if it is an unpleasant one, and tries to go back to what they were doing. It's the dude who acts like I've permanently cock blocked him by doing a few pullups thirty yards away from their bench.

And seriously dude? You're not getting past second base in a public park anyway. Go rent a hotel room. I promise you I won't break down the door and start working out in there. And hey, in a hotel you might actually get laid!

What's more, even if it's just someone texting or having a drink, the women and girls will just look to see what I'm doing, then immediately lose interest. I've had boys and men just sit there and watch my entire routine, from warm up to finish, like they were some kind of fitness instructor checking my form. What is so fascinating about some strange foreign woman doing pullups? I can honestly say that even if some dude were super hot and shirtless I'd only watch his workout surreptitiously, not just dumbly gawk and stare at the poor bastard. What gives? I'm sure you've all seen people do pullups and chinups before, guys.
