If you already read fic, how is that different from the canon, though? I've read a LOT of HP fic (I was in the fandom pretty much as soon as there was one) and never read one better than the books. So I'd at least give one of them a try. Just a suggestion, not a criticism. :)

I do get how the rules imposed on you makes it hard to enjoy now, though.

Was it supposed to be an "epic romance"? I love Steve/Peggy and I never got that impression.

They just seemed like two people who understood and respected each other that fell in love. Which is why it really worked for me.

It was tragic, yes, but it wasn't made out to be some "romance of the century." They were pretty low key.

Ouch, I feel you, OP, I'd have been a complete wreck too.

The advice my friend gave me when I was having trouble holding up at the work party-- advice that works for any celebrity death that really affects a person-- is to just say that you lost someone who meant a lot to you, and would rather not talk about it.

Depending on the timing and who gets the news how fast and who even keeps up on that, some people put two and two together, and I can't promise they wouldn't be obnoxious if they did. I found out via an email during the party, so no one else there knew, and honestly, few people there would have really pieced it together, not many TOS fans in the place or anything like that.

But, if you ever can't help a little public lost composure, you don't owe anyone the whole story, but you can still let them know you're grieving and need some personal space.

I dunno if I would've liked it better, but you do have a good point. However, most people do end up settling down*, and I guess the show wanted to portray that.

I totally agree, anon. My respect for those artists who only draw female characters is overflowing, because how often they draw them in T&A poses in bikinis kissing other women is directly proportional to how much they respect them and love them as characters, and it shows.
