It was a long, long time ago and I was very young, so it was the 80s, and I used to have this book which was lots of little short stories about fairies. All really nicely illustrated with nice art. It was about how elves and fairies would trick people, and there was one story about a guy who fell asleep on a bridge and saw fairies flying on pieces of straw and he tried it too. And another one about willo the wisps leading kids into marshes. Does anyone remember the book or have an amazon link, I'd love to give a copy to my cousin for her kid.

What are some things you know you have to be socially aware of that have ruined things for you?

Relevant to me because I watched Pan today. I spent my time wanting to vomit at the love story the shoe-horned in, feeling like I had to do significant violence to someone because of the racism they loaded it up with, and kinda squeeing about how bad-ass Tiger-Lilly was. In the end I couldn't enjoy the good bits because I know that the bad bits are too bad and have to over rule that.

I kinda want to get into this genre/medium but I don't really know where to start. What are some good visual novels that are available in English? I'm mainly looking for ones with female protagonists and m/f romance, but I'll take any recs. Fanservice is fine but I'll appreciate it more if it's aimed at straight female players haha

Finding Thread

The other thread reminded me of this book I've been trying to find. This can be a thread for anyone that trying to remember a book/movie/show etc.

The book I have in mind was a YA novel. A girl somehow goes to a parallel world where her family is super nice and everything goes her way. In the end, she finds out that they are actually lizard monsters planning to eat her. She manages to escape back to the normal world. Also, she rescues a dog. Anyone know it?

There's also an anime version of Wizard of Oz I've been looking for. There are a bunch of them and I'm not sure which one it is. I watched it in Germany in the early 90s. All I remember is an episode where her friends were turned into items and she had to guess which items they were. I think Scarecrow was a vase?

I bought a pumpkin for carving my first jack-o-lantern in probably 20 years. I want to do the Flash symbol (described lately as a lightning bolt inside a white circle), and I can't decide what the best way to do it should be. So, pick one:

1. Cut out the lightning bolt entirely shave down the skin for the circle.
2. Leave pumpkin rind for the lightning bolt and cut out the circle.
3. Leave pumpkin rind for the lightning bolt and shave the circle.

Also, if anyone has tips for making any of that go smoothly...

A very small rant

My name has two parts. In the interest of not giving my real name out on the internet, let's say it's Mary Jane. I introduce myself as Mary Jane, I sign my assignments as Mary Jane Lastname, and yet everyone keeps calling me Mary. Just Mary. It really annoys me, and I correct them when it's appropriate, but...how do they make that mistake? "Hey, I'm Mary Jane." "So Mary, where are you from?" *sigh*
