In addition to the master index I've got going on, I've been thinking for a while about periodically bringing a few old secrets back to the limelight. But given the wank about wank threads last night, I thought I'd go ahead and put it down below the games thread and announce it up here.

Edit: I've got no set schedule for this. They'll just be here when they're here. Thoughts on how many you' like in a post? I went with three. I probably wouldn't want to go more than five, so as not to compete too much with the main post.

So I just moved into a new apartment. For the most part it is working fine. The rent is ridiculously cheap, which is nice. But I'm sharing the room with a new roommate. And she's a really deep sleeper. So she sets like three alarms and half the time sleeps through them anyway , so I have to get up and shake her unless I want the alarm to be going for a good five minutes.

This would be less frustrating if she didn't leave for work at 6AM. It isn't so bad right now because I have the week off and can go back to sleep. But once classes start again, I know it is going to be really irritating.

The thing is, she's been in the place for 2 years. And it doesn't really feel like my place yet. She's had her system down for years, and I don't really feel like I can ask her to do something different. So I'm not really sure what to do.

Do any of you actually like certain genres of fic better what it's bad than when it's good?

For example, I vastly prefer smut where it seems like the author doesn't realize how rapey or abusive her porn is to smut where the author seems to know exactly what she's doing.

I also generally like humorous slice-of-life fics better when the author is mediocre or at least somewhat immature. They're more likely to be forthright about being a day-in-the-life, instead of being pretentious or trying to be clever or trying to slip in some kind of dumb metaphor or hidden message.

I passed my master's degree, with Commendation! Meaning that my work was, overall, good enough to stand above merely passing! I found out today. I have an Msc in Ecology and Environmental Sustainability.

I personally will read almost any gen hurt/comfort no matter how terrible the fic is. And though I have some standards for slash and het hurt/comfort (mostly because of some particularly creepy forms of Magical Healing Cock and other sexual squicks), but not very high ones.

Diet questions

Sorry if there's been a thread about this lately.

I want to try to eat more healthily in general. Not "go on a diet," especially not whatever the latest fad diet is.

Trouble is, I find a lot of healthy foods unpleasant, either in taste or texture - not just bland and uninteresting, but bad to the point that they make me gag. At least, a lot of cooked and green vegetables are like this for me. I like spinach and carrots raw, but not cooked. I can eat some vegetables if they are in very spicy dishes, but I don't know how to make those. The usual American style of cooking vegetables is, as far as I can tell, is just to cook them and then eat them, which isn't so great if you don't like the way they taste.

I do like some fruits, like apples, avocado, and pears.

Anyone have any suggestions for eating better?

Hi FS! So last summer I posted this thread (http://fandomsecrets.dreamwidth.org/818909.html?thread=659851229#cmt659851229) about noticing a cute girl in a store with a rainbow wristband and debating over whether I should talk to her. Most people seemed to say go for it, so I decided why not, but I never saw her again.

Fast forward to today, 6-7 months later, I'm at a different place and see a different girl, wearing a rainbow necklace. I didn't say anything to her, both because I was preoccupied, and because I didn't know what to say. But she was at the computer next to the lady helping me, and I noticed she kept giving me these looks/smiles while I was being waited on (I was there quite awhile).

I'm wanting to go back and talk to her but I don't know how to do it without making an idiot of myself. I have a rainbow bracelet myself now so I'm wondering if I should just wear it and not say anything, and see if she notices/says anything to me?

I know this probably sounds lame, but in this insanely small town, she's only the second possible lesbian I've ever seen in person, and I want lesbian friends(/possible dates) and have no idea how to meet them. (No gay bars, no LGBT clubs of any sort, and no one on online dating sites within 5-6 hours of here...I know I probably need to move to a bigger town but that's not an option at the moment.) And she was really cute and with the looks she kept giving me I got the feeling that maybe she was interested.

But I don't know how to subtly hint about it without coming out and saying "hey, are you into girls?" especially if it turns out I was misinterpreting her looks and she's straight but just likes rainbows or something.

Any advice?

Sims 1,2,3 and 4

I've been sick for like a week and half and I spent a lot of time playing the Sims 2 in a mildly delirious state. It's the only excuse I have for why I now ship the hell out of some of the Maxis-made Sims. I mean, we all ship Morty and Bella, but who ships Vidcund Curious and General Buzz Grunt? (Hint: it's me.) I swear I'm like the only one in the fandom that cares about the pre-mades.

From watching the random Who episodes this marathon week, I'm kind of looking forward to seeing Capaldi on Saturday. But my gut feeling says I like the trailers more than the prospect of watching an actual episode. I know it sounds weird, but since I've backed off DW fandom I can't seem to muster enthusiasm. Maybe if I just look forward to watching the show instead of the fandom, it'll be better?

Let's take a look at some secrets of years past, shall we? All secrets in this post were still live when I saved them. If a secret is yours, and you don't want it here, delete it from your hosting site, and leave a comment here (anon if you like). When I've confirmed it's gone from the original secret, I'll delete it from mine. I know that probably seems like a lot of work, but unfortunately, given the anonymous nature of secrets, I can't just take any anon at their word when they say "That was mine, please delete."

But really, wouldn't it be more fun, OPs, if you popped back in with an update? If you've been here from the start, it's been seven years. Do you still feel the same and find it secret-worthy, or has time changed your mind or made the once scandalous seem tame?

Frozen fell very flat for me. I didn't like it or love it. I was very much indifferent to it. Then I listened to a guy version of Let It Go and I realized I only cared when Elsa was a man.

And by missing the point, I mean it seemed like a lot of emphasis was placed not just on sibling relationships, but sisters in particular. So turning Elsa into a man took that away, thus missing the point.
