A young boy named Gokdai has mystical powers, and gets in lots of fights with pepole that seem to involve powering up and repetitive punching! If you squint really hard... you won't see dragon ball at all, you'll just see the Korean anime Super Kidd (with english dub!)

I usually try to be "live and let live" about triggers, but if the scene in the first 12th doctor episode where the doctor pulls out one hair off of his head and one off of Clara's to show her the truth out the restaurant is so gosh darn triggering that you have to write a news article about how horrible and triggering it was, you either

(a) are a horrible shill using a valid concept (triggers) to make money/get known
or
(b) need to go to a doctor to talk about your oversensativity because holy shit.

What two or more shows/movies/books/whatever go together in your head because you just happened to be watching/reading them at the same time?

Like, for some odd reason, I was reading Trigun at the same time I was watching ATLA, so I always think of one with the other, and always compare Vash and Aang.

OR, do you have things that go together because of some odd quirk? (Like I grew up watching "On the Town" on the same VCR tape as a Care Bears movie, and "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" goes with the G.I. Joe cartoons for the same reason).

I was drinking a glass of Johnny Appleseed and noticed a fruit fly floating around in it. I thought about dumping it in the sink, but decided to fish the little guy out with a fork. He was still alive, but crawling a little more slowly around the fork as I set it down.

Apparently, little fruit flies love Johnny Appleseed.

For me that is (unsurprisingly) Lion King. It was the movie of my childhood and is still the only movie I can watch over and over and over again (I just watched it last night). I can only assume my last words will be me going "Remember, remember, remember..."

Work rant

It may be too soon to post another work rant thread, but I really want to rant about something that happened at work the other day.

I've been sick with the cold for the past 10(ish) days, and since I work the production line in a clean room environment, we have to gown up(yay smocks!) and wear hair nets, and we have this rule that if you're sick, you must wear a face mask so as not to get other employees sick and to keep the products we're building from getting contaminated. I've been wearing my mask for a week, and a coworker of mine began wearing one too the other day. She and I are female. When I was getting ready to leave for work on Monday she told me that our supervisor (who is a guy) saw her with her face mask and asked her if she and I had been making out and if I had gotten her sick as well.
She tried laughing it off and said to him that "yeah we were" because she said she didn't know what else to say, but when I heard it I was pretty disgusted. Since I didn't hear it myself, I don't think I can go to HR to complain about it, but GROSS! My supervisor just keeps doing things that make me want to work with him less and less.

So...anyone else frustrated with work?

Yeah, yeah, "imitation is the highest form of flattery" but it still feels wrong to read a fic and go "Wow, I love this idea...but it's really shitty execution, I think I'll redo it."

It's been a long time since I had this feeling. The first was an actually reasonably decent SG-1 fic where the team is forced to push Daniel away and be really cruel to prove he's not selling secrets. This one is for my TV obsession du jour: Criminal Minds.

Basically, gay college students are being targeted/killed by a serial killer, and to catch him (I assume it's a him, I couldn't finish it), Morgan and Reid go undercover as lovers. I really hated the way the narrative just dropped "Everyone knew Reid was dating a guy and Morgan was bisexual!" into the story and it's just so blugh. Clearly setting up to be full of Reid angst over unrequited-until-they're-not feelings -- and honestly...I'd probably go that route too, I just feel like I'd do it so much better. But that's shitty.

Anyone else face this problem? What was the story like?

Have you ever stumbled across an old fandom or an actor from an old fandom in something else, and had a moment of remembering how big a crush you had on them once upon a time? I was watching an old episode of The Ghost and Mrs Muir yesterday, and suddenly there was a random Bill Bixby as a ghost hunter, and I got stuck remembering that damn, that man was fine in the seventies. I was head over heels for him as David Banner in The Incredible Hulk for the longest time.

Which celebrities' real-life personalities surprised you (good or bad), and did it affect how you see their work?

For me... well, it's a big cliche, but finding out what a massive tool Orson Scott Card is really soured me on his work. I'm not sure how much of that was disappointment, and how much of it was the "Wow, now that you mention it these plot/character points really are kind of creepy and gross" phenomenon.

Where I am at the moment is WAY TOO HOT! As in, temperature is way high, humidity is high - it's so disgusting that, despite it thunderstorming all DAY, it's still so damn hot and muggy that nothing helps. Sweaty, uncomfortable, no drink is cold enough, no shower is free, it's stupid o'clock in the morning and I can't SLEEP ... :(

I dunno. Nobody bothered to read The Plague Stone, despite it being available online in PDF and Itunes-document and copies for sale on ebay and other sites, and people are already posting their excuses for not bothering with Southern Fire (seriously, can't read it because it contains a pregnant woman? weaksauce! or it isn't available from the *right* stores). What is the point then? I blame you for this, by the way, if the club organizer is prepared to pull out excuses like not wanting to read the text-doc because they don't want to buy a paperback from the wrong store, then why should anyone else? Club organizer *has* to go the extra mile on a book club read. What is the point of reccing anything else?
