I put a Jewish curse on my bike. Like literally I wrote on it (in sharpie) that if it was stolen the thief would be cursed. And then I wrote my name in Hebrew cursive because that's the only thing I remember how to spell in Hebrew cursive. So far it's been half a year in a bad neighborhood and I like to think it's worked as a deterrent.

(I do use a lock and have a tracking device on it too though, I'm not that stupid.)

I don't know if I believe that Jews have special Jew powers, but I have no problem exploiting others' beliefs in them. (BTW, if we run the world where the hell is my cut?) How have you used stereotypes to your own benefit?

I am officially seven weeks into an eleven week summer session. In theory, I should be getting financial aid for this.

In reality, I still haven't gotten any fucking financial aid because there's a "glitch in the system", and even though the financial aid lady can see ALL my paperwork, and see that yes! I did do everything correctly! And I should be getting my money! Said glitch means that the computer hasn't seen my paperwork, and they're still waiting for "their fourth patch from the government" to make the website work.

Pokemon thread

So I was randomly inspired to turn on the ol' Pokemon X today (haven't touched it in a year), and just keep Wondertrading for awhile, while I check f!s and watch Youtube. I try to trade my extras from Breeding, so things that are a little unusual like Meowths or Charmanders or random Pokemon with excellent stats from breeding. I used to trash whatever crap Pokemon I got, rather than send them back in the Wondertrade, but there's only so many Bunnelby's you can get before you stop caring.

So I sent a Bunnelby back through, feeling a bit guilt as I did it, but I'm only half paying attention so whatever.

I just got back a Hoopa.

I'm just lol'ing because I know whoever sent out a Pokemon like that, hacked or otherwise, is laughing and shaking his head right now. I'm sorry, man. I'm sorry. But I'm keeping the Hoopa.

I managed to lose 6 pounds through a lot of blood sweat and toil, over several weeks. I went on a complete binge this past 2 weeks, probably gained around 5 pounds back. I'm stuck in an endless cycle of losing and gaining 5 pounds over the past year. No idea what I should do, since I have 25 left I still want to lose.

Do you have something that bugs you with storytelling and plot narrative in current tv shows?

I know I do. I hate how so many plots right now hang on someone just not taking two minutes to give a quick briefing of what is going on. I'll accept it if we're in the middle of an action sequence or something like that, but so often there is no reason for with holding information other than the character being a dick or the writer not knowing how else to crank out tension. It is really noticeable when the scene and location changes between something going wrong and characters arriving. It so often implies there was a whole car ride with the characters just not talking to each other. For god's sake just have your characters communicate, and not act like dicks (unless being a dick is explicitly part of their characterization of course, but then make sure the narrative calls them on it) otherwise when everyone is in trouble and things are falling down around their ears I'm not going to think "oh no, how fraught this situation is, will they survive or not"; I'm going to think "serve those assholes right for not taking two minutes to talk things out". I'm also probably not going to worry if a character survives and they are in the opening credits anyway, I'd have read a spoiler about their actor leaving if they weren't gonna.
