We're watching The Lion in Winter, a movie about FAMILY CHRISTMAS complete with all the back-stabbing, imprisonment, and drunken yelling that comes with family Christmases.

Then maybe Predestination, which is about time-travel and well. It's about time-travel. That's all I say. (This feature may be cut depending on time constraints.

BUT WE ARE DEF watching RATATOING, an amazing film about horribly animated rats who run a popular Brazilian restaurant. IT'S ONLY AN HOUR LONG! Hooray! You can THANK CHARD FOR THIS. But seriously though, I love this movie too.

Also maybe a bit of wrestling. Maybe Mil Muertes vs Fenix in their amazingly bloody coffin match from Lucha Underground? How about Angelico leaping like 20 feet and Ivelisse working a match with a fucking broken ankle? How about both?

Last weekend was spent at a five day workshop/festival/master class thing in London and I think that I did all the "don't"s in the week leading up to it and during, not to mention after. Working overtime, stressing out about getting stuff done on time. Then having a tight schedule for the event and way too late nights. Also spent the last night at the airport so sleep was scarce. Then going straight to work as soon as I got back into the country.

Now I'm curled up under double duvets, trying to sweat it out so that I can scrape myself toghether for working on monday.

What do you do to escape this crap, F!S? Or how do you make it go away faster? ( I know that resting would be the place to start, but I can't afford to stay home on account of deadlines and no others knowing to do my job.)

This whole mess just frustrates me so badly. How do we get her to open up about this topic? She is at the moment the poster-girl for video game misogyny, and her silence on the matter isn't helping anything. If she were to come out against what Hideo and his boys club are doing she could be such a powerful voice for women in gaming, but she's just staying quiet - no pun intended - about the whole thing. Can we infer from that that she's onside with what's being done? Who are we supposed to handle this?

I haz sads cause I wants a kitty but can't get one

This past summer we had to put down our old beloved cat. My mother has been going through hormonally-caused anxiety for the past few years and in the end, I sent her away from the pet clinic and made the decision to let him go by myself. In a weird way, it feels like the most adult thing I've ever done.

Now for context: I'm a grown women in her mid-twenties living with and dependent upon my parents for Reasons. We're a good family -- that is to say that we are very loving and respectful of each other. My folks are getting on in years and I'm helpful to have around at least.

The thing is, I want another cat. Until now any pets we had were strays that came to us, and my mother has always said that she never wants to actively find a pet because the heartbreak of losing them is too much. My father agrees with her on the basis that the eventual care some of our cats have needed was so costly that having them isn't worth it. But I want another kitty. I'm still young and have many years of kitty-loving ahead, I hope.

The thing is, I could afford a cat on my own money. The shelter fees and food are handleable. I couldn't afford intensive care if the animal became really sick, but if they had to be put down I can pay for it and make the decision. But the fact of the matter is, the idea of me having a personal cat is absurd. My mother is a cat magnet; they all adore her and tend to bond closest to her immediately (which only feeds her anxiety when she catches them crossing the street or other such dangerous larks). My father pretends that he couldn't care less about cats (and even refers to them as a nuisance) but more than once he was caught cuddling our old boy and giving him scraps from the table.

Anyway, in the end my folks don't want another cat and I live in their house and I have to respect them on that. As it is I don't think a shelter will let me adopt if they knew the cat would be indoor/outdoor (it's simply impossible to have an indoor-only cat in our house. We have to keep windows and doors open since we live in a hot climate with no A/C. So long as the cat isn't silly enough to cross the road, the strays we've taken in haven't been in any danger; they passed from old age.)

But I wants a big purring kitty-cat again. *whine*
