Went on a breeding spree today; bred all my established pairs and managed to match up some more. I've still got an overabundance of regular females and two-headed and pygmy males. Drakes are pretty much balanced gender wise. Didn't get a soulpeace from my whitexdaydream pair, and my waterxmagi pair isn't available again yet, so still not shallow water. I'll get the both one day. Patience is the key.

I don't mean a quick peck "good-bye" and departure. But full on swallowing each other's faces in the middle of a busy public area.

Personally, I hate it. I find it gross. Yesterday, I was in a Mexican restaurant in line at the cashier ordering some take out. A young couple (20 somethings) walked up behind me and proceeded to make out. I tried to ignore them but the noises they were making sounded like they were trying to molest a fish. And if that description makes you go, "Oh, EW!" now you know how I felt. Barely two feet away from me and going at it like they were trying to physically merge with each other. Worse, everyone around the couple started to get pretty uncomfortable. They too try to ignore the couple but you could see the distress on their faces. There's a time and a place for everything. But the cashier line at a Mexican restaurant is not the place to be checking each other tonsils with their tongues.

Characters you think would work as well/almost as well in another fandom universe than their own

I thought about this because my brain was thinking about how interesting it would be for Luna Lovegood to be in the Doctor Who universe. I don't know if she quite would fit as well, but I'm interested to see if anyone has any ideas for characters they think would work well in other universes.

Puppy update

Well, Dodge is still here.

It's gone from "just Friday night" to "over the weekend" to an unknown length of time. John* was meant to come pick him up today, but he never showed, and my brother now doesn't know when John is coming for Dodge.

An added twist is that even if John avoids having a holiday at Her Majesty's leisure, he's going to be moving in somewhere that doesn't allow dogs anyway. In which case Dodge will be staying here permanently. And he will be getting neutered whether my brother likes it or not.

He's an adorable little thing. Full of energy, no sense of boundaries, personal space, or limits, never stops playing. He found the rat cage tonight, with its rodent inhabitants; that was funny. Zara and Monty keep trying to put him in his place, but he doesn't seem to understand that yet. He will, eventually.

Question for other staffie/pitbull owners on here: do your dogs think they're lapdogs?

Tell me your fave adaptations! Whether because it's a direct faithful adaptation or because they changed enough things to make it a good compliment to the book. Some of my favorites:

Babe. Great acting, kept the spirit of a Dick King-Smith book, and the little 'chapter' transitions were super cute.

Holes. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this movie, and though a lot of that was PAtricia Arquette and Dule Hill I liked everyone else too!

...OK, FINE. Lord of the Rings. Such a cliche inclusion but there you go!

Walking Dead. Graphic novel to TV screen, but I guess it counts? I like that it uses a lot of characters and events from the novels, but doesn't try to follow it closely otherwise.

Thinks that you ship on an emotional level, but don't read smut about?

Sort of inspired by #3, but going beyond that. I was thinking that I ship Xena/Gebrielle and Tara/Willow even though I'm not necessarily interested in girl-on-girl sexually (it doesn't bother me, but I find it less interesting as a rule)- but I love their dynamics, think they belong together, like cute shippy stuff etc.

It can also go for older characters that I don't necessarily need to see naked, but I think are really sweet or interesting together (I shipped Varys/Olenna Tyrell for a bit).

This is very different than some of the smut-driven fics I like to read in some fandoms - but still, it's definitely a part of my fandom experience.

So, F!S, what are the fav pairings you like, but don't necessarily want smut for?

I didn't tell my boss exactly what I'd had planned, only that I had been thinking about it. She gave me a few referrals for sliding-scale doctors that she knows, and told me we'll work my schedule around it.

The hard part is going to be making that call, because using the phone (initiating calls in particular, even to people I know) has always given me major anxiety attacks.
