Friend/roommate is moving in on Saturday, so I have been cleaning my house up. I really need to get in the habit of doing it more often, I am a terrible adult. D: And I had moldy food in the fridge... Never again.

I was apprehensive of Transformers: Windblade, but I took a chance on the first issue and ended up really enjoying it. If the quality is consistent for the rest of the mini, I'll be picking it all up.

The current Thunderbolts title didn't seem like my thing at first, not least because I'm not a fan of Way's Deadpool, but I took a chance on the run after his and found myself hooked. Seems the creative team has changed again, so we'll see how that goes.

All-New Ghost Rider is suddenly everywhere I look and seems fun. I might give it a go.

Ms. Marvel continues to be my favorite thing.

Batman '66 continues to be my second favorite thing.

As for what I'm looking forward to, mostly Sailor Moon Crystal and the second season of Free! I also want to check out the Cartoon Network crossover comic that I just forgot the name of, but not so much that I'd say I'm exactly looking forward to it.

heyyyy i'm sitting in my hotel room in stockholm rn :D i've only been in sweden for a day but it's been a blast so far!

we visited gamla stan like galerian-ash suggested (found the comics store you mentioned, btw). very impressive architecture. then we ate in an irish pub that i chose because i had a good feeling about it, and that feeling turned out to be right! i had the best meatballs ever, with an american beer (brooklyn lager i think? yeah that's it), and wow, the waiter was hot (he looked a bit like ragnar from vikings, with tattoos). and then we bought a lot of beer.

Friendship deal killers

(Sort of related to the thread the other day about whether or not you'd stop being friends with someone over their political views.)

What would be a total deal killer for you in a friendship? I have a lot, which makes me feel pretty judgmental. :-/

* excessive drug/alcohol use - I'm not into either and hanging out with people who only want to get wasted is very boring
* being into a lot of woo-woo nonsense - I feel like if someone is going to be in homeopathy, ancient aliens and the healing power of reiki, for example, they're not going to be pleasant to deal with on a lot of issues that call for logic and reasoning
* being anti-gay, anti-bodily autonomy or racist - all issues which affect me personally, so I can't really trust a friend whose politics are motivated by these things

What is the weirdest event you wish would occur or be proven to be real (in relation to conspiracies)?

I ask because I was looking at an old newspaper and it was talking about Dennis Rodman going to North Korea. I realized that nothing would astound me more than if I woke up one day to the headline, "KIM JONG UN ASSASSINATED! US GOVERNMENT REVEALS DENNIS RODMAN HAS BEEN AN UNDERCOVER AGENT THIS ENTIRE TIME!"

That would be the even I would tell my grandchildren about. "Kids, I was alive the day Dennis Rodman killed the North Korean dictator. *pulls out picture of Dennis Rodman from my wallet* He truly changed the world."

I can't be the only person who has these weird thoughts (at work while listening to the same pop song for the hundredth time). Anyone else?

To me it's the expectation you have to be constantly available, on multiple communication platforms,all the time. It drives me nuts. I just blatantly refuse it. I don't even have a smartphone. And it just irks me it's only going to get worse. I'm the kind of person who might call you back 3 hours later after a missed call, and not be online half of the day.

I've gotten like four asks from people (or one person, it's always anon) asking me to put a trigger warning on pictures of food...and occasionally drinks. I'm not even talking about eating disorders or anything, it's literally just pictures of food. How does this person even cope in real life? There is like zero percent chance that I'll ever give a trigger warning for food, and I've told them this, but it still persists.

I finally had the time today to talk with my GP about what's going on. I don't want to get into details (I didn't even really go into details details with him about it, just the general plan), so long story short is that I have a prescription. The fun part will be taking it without anyone finding out (psych is 'quack medicine' to the family I live with).

It was a bit out of the blue, but now I'm really worried. I'm crabby as hell, but always thought I was a good person. I go out of my way to help my friends and family.

Stupid fandom wank complaint thread

So, there was some wank in my small fandom the other day and it seems to have shut down the good part of the fandom and caused a person I was trying to become fandom friends with to take a break for a while.

I'm really mad about it because I think I may have been the catalyst as I was posting about a very problematic character (my favorite character, and a well liked character in the fandom) without properly examining each of his heinous acts and comparing them to real life atrocities, etc., etc. It was basically a bunch of angry kids who seem to parrot sj concepts while having no idea what they are talking about and take fictional characters too seriously and shit on new fans of this character. I didn't get involved in the wank (aside from it being my posts being reblogged and snide comments added) but now I'm sad because I liked that fandom a lot and now everyone's all sore and upset. :(

Anyone else have some wank happen in their fandoms that upset them?

Haven't watched the video yet, does it go into any detail into who might be doing the cartoon? Pacific Rim is pretty popular in Japan iirc and I'd kill for a studio like Bones to animate it. Wishful thinking, I know.
