But seriously, I have commented anon occasionally because sometimes I worry about accidentally starting wank. I also posted a reply that made no sense when I read it in the morning (I'd had a few beers) so all these irritated responses in my inbox sort of confused me until I read what I'd written. How early are we talking? I was in the Harry Potter fandom (... although we were insane) back in the early-mid 2000s and JKR got a LOT of hate. That said, it seemed to be the exception rather than the rule, the way it is these days. :/

TV Tropes can be pretty bad about writing about things sometimes, but TBH, those are very similar to the impressions I've got reading about that other places.

People seem to spend a lot of time talking about how great it is that it's cynical and that it's 'realistic' and 'how superheroes would really be like' and none of those things are anywhere close to as intrinsically interesting to me as they apparently are to other people.

I never cared that much whether or not other people shipped Harry/Hermione, even as a Ron/Hermione person myself. But I never got the actual ship - Hermione always, in my eyes, treated Harry like a brother so it just never worked for me.
