So yeah, got weekends mixed up. I'm airing both.

First up, in both good-natured watching and as a tribute to the man himself, an intro to Discworld with the two-part miniseries, Terry Pratchett's Going Postal. Conman gets sentenced to running the city's derelict post office. Fantasy critique of capitalism, big business, and government service as well as a wonderful intro to the massive, sprawling Discworld universe of 40+ novels.



Then watch as as mega-billionaire, David Xanatos (yes, THAT Xanatos), moves an ancient Scottish castle to the top of a skyscraper of Manhattan thus breaking a thousand year old sleeping curse of the gargoyles who lived there in the aptly named, Gargoyles. Official plan is to show the first five episodes (they're one giant mini-arc) and depending on how people feel afterwards, I can do more. (I picked out the Macbeth episode, the bodyswapping-ish episode, the Halloween episode, and (one of) the time travel episode(s).)

Am I alone in feeling particularly unenthusiastic about pretty much everything right now? Honestly I just cannot get excited about a single damn thing. I can't even manage to do simple internet browsing without becoming bored and disinterested (first time in decades I've gone to the internet and found nothing to distract me). I ran out of things to be invested in, and there seems to be nothing coming down the pike that just grabs me. Am alone in this sudden fit existential ennui?

New webcomics sought

I've noticed my regular webcomics list has shortened in the last year with a lot of them either finishing up their run (Shortpacked, you were awesome; Dumbing of Age, you suck as a replacement) or dropping to just one comic a week or less. So I'm open to any suggestions on replacements, something with humor and a bit of surrealism if not outright fantasy, regular update schedules (at least twice a week) and half decent art. And no f--king Homestuck, please.

Please suggest something for me.

Stupid Reasons to Stop Consuming Media

What are some stupid reasons you stopped watching/playing/reading something?

There is a new show on Fox called Last Man on Earth. I've heard really good things about it so decided to watch. Unfortunately, I could not make it past the first episode. The female character is played by Kristen Schaal, aka the voice of Louise on Bob's Burgers. I cannot listen to that voice (her real voice I guess) come out of that body.

It probably didn't help that I had just watched two episodes of Bob's Burgers beforehand. Maybe I'll give it another shot, but for now I'll skip it.

Does anyone here use a VPN? I'm starting to think that it might be worth paying to circumvent the country restrictions that keep bothering my mom and I, but I'm not entirely sure how it works, tbh. Like, would a VPN work for everyone in our home network (so, me on my laptop, my mom on the computer, etc.), or only on one device? I assume it can be turned on and off and doesn't constantly run in the background?

We basically need a UK IP address, but free proxy servers are too slow/bothersome. Does anyone have experience with paid versions of proxy servers or VPN clients?
