America's Test Kitchen, Epicurious sometimes, Serious Eats, and then just Google searching for random blogs and finding ones that look trustworthy (IE, doesn't talk about how hubby loves it, not principally a lifestyle blog, able to talk about the basic concept of the dish and the purpose of different steps, often written by someone from the culture in question).

There you have it. That is why if you have any feeling for Trans folk you should not vote Republican.

It is also why you should not vote Hillary "Political Negotiator" Clinton. She brags about being the insider deal maker. If she is President then any time she goes to make a deal, to get a nominee for SCOTUS confirmed, to defend or fund Obama care, for any and all tax change, the Republicans are going to demand in return above all else the roll back of T* rights. ANd is she going to cave?

Yes. In a word. T* is a small constituency and thinly spread across the nation, so she will lose few direct votes and if she caves early in her Presidency then it'll still be in the honeymoon period and she'll have -as a political insider and experienced Washington machine operator knows- plenty of time to cover that caving on Trans rights with other initiatives.

So if you know a trans person, if you have any feeling for trans people, if you oppose discriminatory rights roll backs, please do not support a Republican or Hillary Clinton. She is going to make a deal to get her way and given the prioritizing of a very vulnerable and politically weak demographic as the target of the Republicans, she is going to have no problem throwing trans folk under the bus. Electorally, it won't hurt her and she knows it.

I'm kinda racist on this, through ignorance and not choice, so please help me understand so I will be less racist as a result.

Why do so many Indians stay on the reservation and drink? Why don't they leave and go to the cities or less poor areas? Surely instead of fixing the same damn car a dozen times a week, then driving drunk and breaking it again, do they not go and take advantage of white educational structures and get a future in the world for them and their kids? Or at least get more jobs in their Casinos and funnel the money back into the tribe trailer parks. Why do they refuse to even try to assimilate like that? Also is there really some genetic link between alcoholism and the Indian? Is that why the tribal elders ban alcohol on the reservation and get upset when someone opens a shop outside it to sell to resident Indians? Or do they just hate that someone has an enterprise they are not profiting off directly, because I heard a lot of elders are corrupt in ways that would make a drug cartel blush.

I know most of this is unfounded, but I don't know what parts and I don't know what the truth is under them, so I'd appreciate some calm explaining so I can be better.

Everyone says the Easter break is when everyone heads to the garden centre and stocks up on plants. I'm actually going to one tomorrow for my first garden, which is just tiny (imagine two tesco parking spaces long and one wide) and already has a dwarf holly in the southeast corner and has a pretty substantial wall blocking most of the morning light all year round. It is pretty scrappy soil, which is mostly dust and stone left by builders, so I could use some suggestions. What should I put in this little garden space, and what have you put in yours? I kinda want a rose of some sort, one of the rich smelling ones.

One of the Pope's duty is to wash penitent parishoners feet in public at Easter in a symbol of his humility and desire to serve, in Francis' credit is he does it a lot more easily and less reluctantly than his predecessors, do you think it ought to be a President's duty too? Remind them, publicly and practically, that they serve the public and have them wash the feet of the homeless a couple of times a year? I think yes, they should.

I just want to vent a bit. Soo...today I was literally not let into a movie theatre because my bag was "too big". Funnily, it's actually fandom related, because it was my Cap America messenger bag...but I digress.

Like, I would have even been fine being searched or leaving in in lockers - but nope, not allowed either. City-enforced security measures. Meaning half of the female population are not basically "potential terrorists".

I get the situation is dire, I'm not an idiot. I just honestly d not think this does anything to prevent terrorism (the airport attacks were pre-ticket check, ad they could still do exactly the same at the movie theatre).

I just think you're just creating at atmosphere of fear, and putting a city under semi-martial law (obviously there were soldiers with guns parading around also). I honestly think it's not helping at all.

I like it, but I struggle to see why it is just Scandinavia that survived the apocalypse. All that is needed is cold winters and a little isolation. I can see why a lot of Europe is fucked, but even there there are places in mountain regions like the alps and Pyrenees that would be fine. Places in Canada and the Alaskan Islands, and a lot of North Russia ought to be fine. Isolated Southern Hemisphere island groups like the Falklands, South Sandwich Islands and so on ought to be fine too, as well as a lot of places in Tierra Del Fuego too. It seems like the plague and aftermath is really screwy in how it worked.

How do I NOT Write a Mary-Sue?

So I've got this plot idea. It would dovetail really well with what was going on with the plot in the area of canon where it would be set, focus on the issues the main characters are going through...

The only problem is, it would need an OFC to make it work.

I've been burned with OFCs before. Even ones I thought were pretty well-constructed, I got accused of writing Mary-Sues.

I'm not planning on going into the OFC's POV; it would be strictly from the canon characters perspective. She wouldn't be romantically involved with either or the canon characters. But still, I'm not at all confident that I can write a character who won't be accused of being a total Mary-Sue.

Any tips/ideas, FS?
