I posted a cracky oneshot last night and then went to sleep, where I dreamed that I woke up and found that the fic had 32 reviews. That's the amount of reviews I have on my two-year-old, ten-chapter WIP. But as exciting as it was, I was afraid to look at them, because I figured that so many reviews in such a short time could mean only one thing: wank.

I do expect to offend a few people with the fic, because the premise is very much black humor, but I'm really hoping it won't be that bad...*cringes*

Job hunt update

I posted yesterday (Or the day before. can't recall) about getting turned down for a job I really wanted. Not only did I whine to you guys, I whined to FB and LinkedIn (ok, I didn't really whine, but I was sad and I let them know I was still looking for work in that field/area).

So today I got several tips on openings that are compatible with what I want to do! :)

so fs, i am going to tell a story and then ask for a couple pieces of advice. this has been a really bad day for me so i apologize in advance if i get snippy with anyone.

i have really bad periods. they're irregular and they're frequently heavy. i am a small and lightweight person so they usually make me dizzy in addition to the feeling like someone punched me in the gut a half dozen times. i can't go on birth control to stop them because most birth control contains estrogen and i'm ftm and going on t next month. i am barely functional on them. i have had to skip class due to them since moving anywhere beyond the bathroom and then couch was completely beyond me. this has been going on since they started (so for about ten years). i have been looked at by my doctor and even had an ultrasound but there does not appear to be a medical reason for this.

it started again today (i never know when they will since like i said irregular. i don't get any some months.). i only had a couple pads so i headed out to the store to get more even feeling miserable. a little over halfway there i got a nosebleed. i get pretty bad nosebleeds too and i didn't have any kleenex left in the pack i usually keep in my coat. so i had to hold my nose and keep my head tilted back the rest of the way to the store so i wouldn't be dripping blood.

my nose has learned a new trick during nosebleeds lately. if i swallow once or twice while it's going on (which i have to to breathe) then the blood starts going down my throat for the most part. fun! so i was swallowing blood the rest of the way to the store. when i got there i headed for the bathroom to clean up and staunch the rest of the nosebleed. there was a line so i ended up standing there a while. i do not now what the other people waiting and staff thought seeing a teenager (i'm a twenty-something but i look younger) with a bloody nose standing waiting for a supermarket bathroom. it's possible they think someone hit me although they didn't do more than give me looks.

when i was at the self-serve checkout with the pads since i hate going through the regular cash with them (it must be a guy thing, i know it's my body but i hate being reminded of it and having another person with me when i'm checking out with them feels awful) i had to pay with one of the new twenty dollar bills. you see, i'm canadian and we have these new twenties with a plasticy strip on them. the machine didn't accept it so i had to wait for a clerk to come over so i could trade it for one of the old ones. also when i was scanning the machine had freaked out at me and said i moved an item from the bagging area when i didn't so a clerk had to help with that too.

i made it home without further incident although i still feel miserable. so here come the questions.

1) does anyone here know of some way to regulate/stop periods that does not use estrogen or anything like it? i know the t will after some weeks but i'd like to have something until then since today was just the last straw.
2) should i be concerned that nosebleeds make me swallow blood now? is there something wrong with my nose?

1) Go to a doctor if you can, it's your best bet, and ask him about your nose as well.

I can't speak for everyone, but if you like older men + younger man/woman and power dynamics in relationships, it hits some of that.

Small Vent

My parents kicked me out of the house a couple of weeks ago. (I'm okay, found a great place to stay and I'll survive comfortably on my income.) I really am going to be better off living in a place where people are not constantly taking out their anger on me and then implying I have mental problems for getting upset about it. They'll probably be better off without me, because I know I've not been perfect and have done some shitty things in the last year myself. We'll still probably meet and get together and everything.

But at the same time, even though this is objectively better for everyone, I'm still upset. I'm happy, but I'm also really sad. I guess that's probably normal, but it doesn't feel any less shitty.

I don't know. I guess it'll pass eventually, but for now it really hurts.

I'm sorry that happened to you, but I'm glad you have a place to stay and are in a situation where you should be able to afford to keep it in the future. Idk exactly what your home situation was like, but it sounds like it was uncomfortable and that you might be better off living apart from your parents. I guess you could always try to find a roommate if the place is big enough, and if you feel lonely?

It's perfectly understandable for you to be upset in this situation, and I hope you and your parents make up in the future. :/ (And that they realize they aren't treating you fairly.)

An online friend of mine is having a baby soon. Someone in her family posted on her Facebook wall asking for an address to send baby gifts to. She posted her address in reply, publicly, and I couldn't resist ganking it. As I expected, the reply has since been deleted. So my question is, on a scale of 5 to 97, how creepy would it be to send her a "congratulations on your new baby" card?

Eh, why don't you pm her and ask if it's okay for you to send her a congrads on your new baby card. If she says no, don't send her the card. If she says yes she'll give you her address. Bam, no creepiness!

I've started a fic for a very controversial pairing, and if I decide to post it somewhere, I'm not sure how much warning is necessary. Even though it's apparently a pretty popular pairing judging by Tumblr, I've come across several people going on about how morally wrong it is. I don't necessarily agree that it's immoral but I'll admit there are some unfortunate implications, and I'm not sure if I should include some sort of "yes, this is bad, but it's fiction, go with it" disclaimer. Is that necessary or should I just not worry about it?

Without knowing the pairing in question, I can't really say, but if it's something that wpuld potentially squick or trigger lots of people, like incest, torture or grey area when it comes to rape, then yes, warn. If not, tag it or put it in the summary.

I almost never post here but I have nowhere else to rant to and just. UGH.

So I'm a part of a pretty tiny fandom. The people are wonderful and the fic is amazing, like, really ridiculously high quality stuff given how small the pool of authors is. However. There's this one girl who continually bitches about the content and the conversations on the tag, how it makes her feel alone and unwanted, and how people should just stop with their AUs because they're fucking stupid. She also dumps pretty hard on the fandom's main pairing (which is incidentally canon! that's new for me), which always kind of smacks of resentment for not including her favourite character. She deletes these posts a couple of hours later, and does the same thing on twitter, and it's just getting really tiring? Usually, it wouldn't really bother me, but given that our fandom is so small, it's impossible to avoid her.

The worst part is, when I ask her what her fucking deal is, she never actually takes responsibility, and is all sugar and lightness and smiley! faces! like she thinks hey! I haven't seen her snarking about how I don't produce enough art for her favorite character, and how we're all so very, very exclusive. I really wasn't expecting to find that two-facedness quite as teeth-grinding as I do, but here we are.

Bleh. I just had to get it out somewhere, otherwise I was going to bite her head off, and this fandom is so lovely that I really don't want to cause any sort of drama.

Has anyone else been in this position? How the fuck do you even deal with terrible people in such close quarters?

Personally, I sit back and ignore. If she's doing this to everybody, somebody else might eventually snap. There will probably be drama, but you don't have to be involved with it.
