I need to follow better tumblrs

I had to unfollow this one person because she’s such an irritating SJW twat, but it's kind of a shame because she has great taste in gif sets and now I need a new source. My favorite hipster blogger also recently angstily deleted her tumblr, and while I’m pretty sure it’ll be like a week before she pops up somewhere else under a new name, I can’t be bothered to look it up. It’s come to my attention that I have pretty slim pickings, so some recs would be awesome!

Criteria: I only really check Tumblr before bed or while I’m messing with my phone waiting for friends at restaurants, so I basically just need an unending fountain of pretty things to look at, no meta, fanfic or anything like that. As previously mentioned, I love gif sets of pretty much everything as long as they’re well-made, but especially of cool films, Elementary, and Game of Thrones (to replace that person I had to unfollow). All things hilarious are welcome. Hipster blogs are cool too if they have lots of pretty photographs of shoes, vintage clothes, teacups, nature, whatever.

And no SJWs, please. I’ve learned my lesson well. If the blogger is obnoxious, no amount of shiny can save it.

I was rereading some old F!S threads, and I came upon one where someone was claiming that the word 'delusional' (and the calling of someone as such) was inherently misogynist, and it got me thinking:

Besides slurs, are their any other words people see as inherently misogynist? Are there any words that people see as inherently male/female (in English, I suppose, or other languages without gendered of words)?

In my case, for some reason I see words with 'sh' sounds as "female" and words with "tch" sounds as male (unless paired with a "soft sound".)

It's easy for fandom to sometimes feel like a complaint-fest even if you mostly enjoy it, since the good things that happen in the fandom/to the show or franchise are taken for granted, while the bad things that happen are incessantly discussed.

So...lets name some good things that have happened to your fandom that made you happy and stood out in your mind as surprising or above expectations. A canon development you like, good news from the author/producers, something awesome the fandom came up with...whatever. Doesn't necessarily have to be recent.

I will watch anything with an interesting plot. I'm a big fan of yuri but not really up to date with the new stuff. I don't really mind if there's fanservice but if there's too much I don't really like it. Female protagonists are nice too.

So if you've got anything I'd be more than happy to give it a shot.

I was reminded of this earlier and caught up with the manga. The last two chapters come out this month, the final chapter comes out at the end of June.

I...what happened to this series? It became a huge clusterfuck a few hundred chapters ago. And then Hotaru sacrifices her life to save Natsume, and disappears into a time vortex with her brother forever? What?

I also think it's strange that all of a sudden people are after Mikan. She hasn't had an alice for a few years now and has no memories. I don't understand how she'd be useful to anyone.

Tumblr thread #2 - halp! *sorry, kinda long*

I have a Tumblr. Today, i realized for the first time it does *not* look like i thought it looked to any outside viewer.

And i have *no* idea how to fix it! I've looked at the 'free themes', and none of them have the same...functions, or whatever? that mine seems to have.

Basically - when i look at my Tumblr, I have the posted image, then at the bottom is 'share' 'reblog' and the little heart symbol so you can 'heart' that post.

But if you look at my actual Tumblr, the little heart only seem to show you notes? And I can't find a 'reblog' anywhere, unless i don't get to see that since it's 'my' Tumblr...? Or does the little heart actually do the 'heart' thing, and it's again something i don't see 'cause it's mine?

(Plus, when i look at my dashboard, or my own reblogged stuff, it's a soothing and restful dark blue. You all apparently see a very unattractive white. *sigh*)

Anon even tho some people will know who I am. :3 Apparently I am racist because I called M. Night Shyamalan, "Shamalamadingdong".

Other than the fact this is a fairly common humorous way to say his name (I was not the only one who called him Shamalamadingdong, just the only one attacked about it), Shamalamadingdong is also a play on a song of the same name (there is also a song called Ramalamadingdong and Ramalama Bang Bang [I sing his name the tune of this song]).

I am a bit miffed because now I am an ignorant, racist asshole and I didn't even know.

problematic stuff you still love

So say you grew up really liking something from, say, the 1990s, that by today's standards would never ever get made, at least not in the same fashion. Maybe the female characters are essentially oversexed talking blow-up dolls, maybe there's some kind of racist stereotype that would never fly. Stuff like that.

Let's say it was your favouritest thing back in the day, but now that you're older and more aware of stuff like privilege and stuff like that, you'd never approve of something like it if it were made today. And then you rediscover it and all its myriad SJ no-nos.

How do you handle this? Do you disown it, saying "I can't believe I ever liked this offensive drivel?" Or does it wind up in a blindspot where you still love it just the same, Liefeld women and all? Or do you acknowledge it has problems but choose to retain your fond memories of it?
