It's not just about white women loving black men - it's part of a broader (basically racist) narrative about black people generally, which basically has two parts:

1) black people (and black men in particular) are seen / portrayed as "animalistic" or "bestial" or "primal". There's a broader concept in which different people are races are positioned on a continuum between "civilized" and "primitive". Black people tend to be positioned at the 'primitive' end of the spectrum, which means that they're regarded as less intelligent but more physically fit, more spiritually attuned, etc - having all the virtues and the vices that Western European civilization in the 19th century assigned to the primitive.

2) there's a persistent neurosis and anxiety for men about the sexuality of women which regards them as being unable to resist their sexual desires, of those desires being uncontrollable. At least in the West, this is often closely linked to the idea of the exotic other (see for instance Dracula). And because the above narrative about black people plays massively into the same basic idea about Desire and Primitiveness, there's an obvious confluence between those two things.

There's probably other elements to it - for instance in America a specific anxiety about slavery and racism - but I think that's the main source of it.

Scared white men, mainly. Look, back in the olden days it was fashionable for rich dudes to have a young wife and a lot of manservants. The rich old dude would be away a lot for business, because even crossing the Atlantic took a couple of weeks at times never mind cross country. The wife would be left alone to make her own entertainment. The idea of being cuckolded by a servant would drive the rich old dude into a frothing rage. The thought that a mere servant would get vagina privileges was incensing. Now make the servant black. That a servant, a nigger servant, might manage to unlock his wife's girdle for free when all they had was the pick of the prostitutes of old London town at ten shillings a night, made the rich, paranoid, old white dudes go bananas.

Now they couldn't come out and say that the wife might like an attentive lover, and the black boot boy might just be a better lover, cause that would be an insult to their socio-economic status, so it had to be the evil blacks that cruelly raped and stole the pretty white wife away. Hence all blacks were out to get some white piece of ass. And since rich old white dudes controlled the means of communication far more tightly than old Rupert Murdoch's shrivelled dick does today, they quickly got it put about that black men wanted the white wimmen folks. And the dumbasses of the day believed them, just as they believe Rupert's dick today.

Hey, does anyone know why some Hazel trees have light bark and some dark? My pearson's prolific has a really light color of bark but the gunselbert has a really dark bark. And the two hedging hazels have sort of a middling color. Why is that?
