Tbis weekend was the absolute worst time to start the absolute worst period of my life. Cramps, backache, and every 30 minutes it seemed like I was up and dropping a clot the size of my goddamn hand (slight exaggeration).

But I knew it was coming, because I also had the worst PMS I've had in a long time (us irregular ladies just have to go by symptoms): chin hair like crazy, sensitive booobage and a crying jag that wouldn't quit even though I KNEW it was just the PMS making me feel like the world was ending.

It was and is the worst. Share your horror stories.

On my period now (but nearing the end). I used to think I was irregular as fuck, but after using a period tracker for a over a year I learned that my period just moves back a week every time.

Sorry your shark week is being such a bitch. It sucks. Might want to see someone if you'r frequently getting a lot of big clots though.

But this reminds me of a curiosity I've always had about transwomen and wth I'm anon: Are y'all typically grateful that you don't have to deal with menstruation or is it a sore spot reminder of your birth sex?

Obv it's probably different for each person and of course there are cis women who don't have them but I was curious.

Yep. This is me, too. In my case it's always nasty headaches, acne breakouts (and I'll get pimples in the weirdest spots, too, like in or behind my ear or on top of my head or something-and sometimes those weird pimples lead to the headaches), and my upper legs cramping up (I constantly have to switch sides when sleeping, because if I lay on one side too long it adds to the crampiness). I also get tired much more easily right around the time it begins, too, if it's a particularly heavy one, as well as a little more irritable.

Fortunately, though, I finished mine just this past week, so yay for that, at least. Sorry you're feeling so crappy. Hope whatever methods you typically use work well and you get to feeling better soon!

Oh my god, do I know that feel right now nonnie, because my period and gender dysphoria are working together to make my week hell. I'm cramping so hard I've been throwing for two days now, and I've burned through an entire box of tampons in that time. Thankfully my future sister in law loves me and just finished her period, so she brought me tampons to last me until Friday when I get paid at least.

What's the difference between a queerplatonic relationship and a sibling-y relationship?

One of my friends was trying to describe a qp relationship, and, according to them, the person they were describing it to kept saying that it sound like a sibling one. My friend was grumping about it, saying that it was Most Definitely not the same thing, but they couldn't say why, and now I'm sitting here wondering... What is the difference, anyway?

An Opinion

If we (and by we I mean, basically, the left) are going to talk about the ways in which pro-life discourse encourages and justifies violence, and if we want to be even remotely intellectually honest, I think the threat today against the University of Chicago has to compel us to reconsider, at least to some extent, the rhetoric that we ourselves use and the way that we ourselves talk about race and oppression, and whether it has any influence in leading to this kind of thing.

Obviously the analogy is not precise - pro-life discourse issues, and has issued, into real-life violence; our discourse has only issued into threats. But, I mean, come on. If we are serious in thinking that rhetoric and worldview inspires action, if by their fruits you shall know them, then we have to take this seriously as a result of our rhetoric and not just dismiss it as a fluke occurrence. It has to be a moment for critical self-reflection.

I'm not saying it proves any side right or wrong in any argument. I'm just saying, the way that we talk about the issue and frame it.

Does anyone else like to analyze movies/books? Like for camera angles or scene staging or nitpicking characterization and plot? Or going through a book to pick all the scenes or perfect lines to justify your shipping? Or looking at authorial word choice and what it means? Etc.

I love doing this. I practically write book reports for fun, and I adore youtube vids or big meta posts that do this too. Anyone else like to do this? Or does the mere idea make you boggle?

How's it going?

For the first time since I started doing NaNoWriMo in 2007, I didn't finish. Oh well. It was going to happen sometime. I'm hoping I can finish this story by the end of the year.

I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with this thing though. It started as a mystery and led to some people who are studying magic and figure out that some of the old assumptions about it are wrong. Then I realized just how huge their discoveries are and all the ways people are going to try to use this information and now it's all spiraling out of control. I feel like one of my researcher characters who went from innocently going "isn't this fascinating?!" to "wait, what are you doing? I just wanted to know how it worked"

So pornstar James Deen was "accused" of rape on twitter. And though a mutual (female) friend of both says that she knows for a fact Deen is innocent, she won't support or defend him because it might discourage others (actual victims) from coming forward.
