I'm not thrilled about Laverne Cox as Frank N Furter. Frank was never meant to be a trans woman. He was and always has been a scary-looking guy in a dress (or leather corset, depending on the scene).

Casting a woman in the role (trans or cis) makes the whole "sweet transvestite" thing not make sense anymore if the costume is still about the fishnets, heels and makeup. He'll be a woman wo dresses and looks like a woman, and that kinda defeats the whole point of his character.

Plus, way to go casting the trans-woman as a narcissistic, violent psychopath who kills a dude, serves his corpse as dinner, and gets shot in the back at the end.

My birthday is next month and it'll probably end up being nothing - I only have one good friend currently in town and we never "go out", and otherwise it'd just be with my family.

So I'm thinking about taking a trip, celebrating on my own by doing something crazy. I'd love to go abroad (I'm American) but that could get too expensive but idk, maybe a big city in the US? (I'm in rural Midwest) I haven't been to New York or California, and I kind of want to go back to DC.

Anyone traveled alone before? I like to travel but I am usually with family/friends. I'm not against traveling alone, but I don't think I'd have the balls/social stamina to like go out to a bar or restaurant alone, but I could still go sight-seeing and stuff.

Book club - thoughts about posting times

So it's a Saturday, and in a very unusual circumstance, my tourney was very small and short today, so we got out a couple hours early, and I didn't go try to hang out with friends because I have a family obligation later this evening. So this will probably be, like, the only time this year I'll see an F!S post on time on a Saturday!

Since I'm here (and I'll make this post again tomorrow), I wanted to talk about weekend discussion posts. A lot of people have said they like weekends, so I wanted to know if people wanted to do a dual post for Maurice, or maybe just do it on the weekend. The thing is, it'd have to be the first Sunday in June, which is like...the 5th or something, because I'm going to be busy all day on the Sunday before (going to the 500 this year!) so I think maybe this time we will do a dual post or just stick with the previously-planned Tuesday. BUT, for June's book (Dragon Thief), I think I am going to hold the initial discussion on a Sunday and see how that goes.

Again, I'm in for whatever is convenient for you. As a named user, I get the comment notifications and I remember you and I had a fairly nice discussion the last book round that went back and forth a few days.

Personally, I think it would be best to stick to the previously agreed date (31 May) for Maurice, and after that hold the discussion either on the last Sunday of the current month or the first Sunday of the following month. That way people would still have two different dates to choose from every month.

A dual post for Maurice though is imo not a good a idea, because splitting a small discussion into two different places will only kill it faster. Linking back instead would be better, I think.
