Artistic or pretentious media?

So, I just watched "Blue is the Warmest Color", which was supposed to be a super artistic and amazing film. I just found it pretentious, and I find a lot of films that seem like they are trying to be really deep to be pretentious. I think I'm just maybe a bit cynical, but I think most of this three hour movie could have been cut, and a ten minute long gratuitous lesbian sex scene isn't necessary to get the plot going (and I'm a lesbian). I think there's a certain type of film that I just roll my eyes at, the sort where there are really long shots of them doing nothing, followed by more shots of them doing nothing, then gratuitous sex scenes, then more nothing... yet that's the type of film that's supposed to be artistic. idk.

Are there any books/films/games/etc that you do find artistic, or any that you thought was supposed to be that way but just came across as really full of itself?

Everybody thinks that these days. You're not allowed to take art remotely seriously without most people thinking you're a pretentious asshole. Or at least that the things you like are pretentious.

Or maybe I'm just in a grumpy mood today. That's also possible.

All of Christopher Nolan's stuff is pretentious to me.

It's not THAT bad, but my problem with it is that it seems as though, because it makes people feel intelligent, people actually think the work itself is objectively intelligent or meaningful.

Is anybody else made incredibly uncomfortable with these. I've looked at some and often the 'sources' aren't exactly saying what the person claims. I just feel like this is going to build up to something awful happening to someone, just for saying or drawing something a person didn't like.

Callout Culture is getting kinda creepy. How long is it until someone is roasted by tumblr for something "awful" that's a total lie? I don't underestimate the internet being able to ruin someone's life.

(and honestly I don't trust the people who try to argue that this shit is still okay. I feel like they're just excusing their desire to make people hate someone they disagree with or don't like. It's getting out of control, you can't deny that.)

Windows 10 has wrecked my computer :(

Let this be a warning to others who also use Lenovo PCs, idk.

I don't mean that it's inconvenient to use. I don't mean that this or that application is finicky now. I mean that my three-year-old laptop is basically unusable at the moment.

For some unholy reason, the installation process has locked me out of my admin rights. Meaning I can't even create new documents in MS Word, and also can't edit old ones, so I can't work period. I can't do basic things like take screenshots, or use Paint. I can't verify myself on my PC so therefore, I also cannot run recovery or repair programs, authorize downloads or updates, or create new profiles. Naturally, this also means I can't rollback to my previous OS, because I'm not authorized to do such things. My SO tried to help out by running recovery from a bootable USB stick, but we got an error message that my harddrive is locked. And since the system is so brand fricking new, there are no solutions or fixes available online.

I don't want to spread panic or anything, but I've been googling around, and some other people seem to have the same troubles, especially on Lenovo comps. I'm a freelancer and I'm in the middle of an assignment (which is why I thought, "let's get this upgrade thing over with real quick, before next week hits"), and this has royally fucked me over. (I mean, I can work elsewhere, but I have lost multiple work hours dealing with this bullshit, and will definitely lose more. Not to mention all those files I'll have to transfer since I can't work on them otherwise.)

So, I'll probably spend all day tomorrow on service hotlines, looking for anything that could help me. I've already heard of one Lenovo user who'll have to get a new harddrive since his laptop still isn't functioning properly, even after he somehow managed to rollback to Windows 8. I hope it won't come to that, but who knows.

Ironically, the one thing that does work is my internet browser (Chrome. I haven't tried Edge.), so here I am complaining. The cursor is bouncing all over the place and the touchpad is fritzing out in regular intervals, but that seems like a minor annoyance right now.

Idk, I needed to rant. Anybody else got any Windows 10 horror stories to commiserate? Or has it worked for you? If yes, I'm happy, because I really wouldn't wish this crap on anyone.
