Do you peel them from the stem or the bottom?

I find it easier to pinch the bottom of the banana and peel it that way instead of biting, cutting, or struggling with the stem. My mom says I've done this since I was two and was left alone with a bag of fruit.

The only other time I've seen this method used was at the zoo and a monkey did it. My family makes fun of me for it and so far everyone who has seen me do it has either laughed or been amazed.

Anyone else out there peel bananas from the bottom?

I realize now that being with one of my closest friends make me more unsocial. I want to talk to people casually and make friends, but with her there, it never happens.
She talks much more than I do so I have a harder time getting a word in, and she always steers the conversation. Basically, she dominates any conversation with acquaintances and they become friends with her, but I remain that awkward loser that hardly talks.

Also no one ever remembers when they have a conversation with me. They say, "Oh! I actually..." and then months (sometimes days) later I try to talk to them and they say the exact same thing. It sucks.

Silly question we don't know who to ask

So, I was thinking this question today and yeah I could possibly ask my friends, but sometimes we have a stupid thing we want to know but don't know who to ask or are embarrassed about it.

My silly question is this: I have recently bought a phone (has Internet but is not an smartphone) and I'm finding the battery runs out quickly. Is it wrong to charge it daily? Usually it still has 3 out of 4 bars when I come home at lunch, but then the next day it will get to 2 and I worry about running out (years of having a weird mp3 player that always went to full, to 3 bars to fucking nothing)
I mean, I have no clue about batteries and stuff but I have this idea that they get damaged if you never let them get kind of discharged and wanted to know if someone knew about that.

Today in social psychology class the teacher said that describing ourselves in terms of what we do and what we have was a sign of capitalism and ultimately wrong. I mean, I got what she said, putting as an example that if you define yourself because you have good grades and fail your "self" will be taking a blow and such.

But then I kept thing, if we can't define ourselves by what we do (I study X thing at X College, I work at X place, I play X sport, etc.) or by what we have (I have a husband, I have a house in X place, whatver), then what would be left?

Somehow it seems like a problem of semantics, because you could say you are a student and live in a certain place and then you wouldn't be describing yourself by what you do and have, or would you?

I dunno why I'm posting (Well, one of the reasons is that I need to practice my English, and it's difficult to find situations to use it outside the classroom), but thought it was an interesting yet confusing idea and wanted to know what others thought of it, I guess.

Yardwork is.....work. Weird, huh?

I've been in my house for over a year now. It's my first house, and the first time I'm responsible for the outside as well as the inside.

I let the yard go for almost that whole year, as I didn't have a mower or other tools, and couldn't afford them for a while. Then I could and dropped a load of money on a mower/trimmer/rake/etc. By that time the yard was very jungle-esque. Seriously, I had dandelions and some flowery-but-has-burs-all-over weeds as tall as me lining the edges and sprouting in spots all over.

I do a bit at a time, and the front yard isn't too bad, but the back is a nightmare, and my gravel driveway doesn't look like gravel anymore. It's hard to stay motivated to do anything at all, and I'm about ready to throw in the towel and hire a pro to get it in shape. Frankly the only thing holding me back is finances.

Anyway, thanks for letting me vent.

So the slight spoilers about the new season have been out for a while now...I think it's safe to mention it here.

The "super special ponies appearing from the mist" really reminds me of the original series, I have to say. I've seen some dislike of this, but I actually like the idea. I'm not surprised Cadance is also a crystal pony. I'm wondering if the others will look more like her? It's pretty blatantly a new reason to sell toys, though.

/Perhaps the flutterponies will actually make it into this series. Or at least Wind Whislter /o/

Something you hate about a specific fandom of yours

So, some fandoms are awesome, some are terrible, some are great but with lots of little flaws, some have very few flaws, but what flaws they do have are godawful.

If you could pick one thing about your fandom, whether it's a fandom-specific fanfic trope, a certain contingent of fans, a piece of fanon, a particular ship, a stupid joke, an infuriating trend, a racist/sexist/homophobic/whatever idea or tendency...whatever. Just take this opportunity to vent the things you hate about a fandom you love.

OTPs

I seriously don't get how people are able to write, like, 50 fics in a row of a pairing. I realize people have ~feels~ about their OTP and whatnot, but how can you guys not get sick of those motherfuckers?

For instance, I one wrote a longfic about my slash OTP, and then I tried to start another longfic, but I couldn't take it. I love those assholes. I truly do. But I needed a break. So I ended up writing a few het, slash, and femslash fics involving various pairings, and I felt...cleansed. It was like rehab. When I started the slashfic again, I felt much calmer.

The hilarious part is when people in my fandom are like, "Oh, it's you great you don't just stick to that one slash pairing like everyone does and that you write rare pairs and represent female characters." And it literally has NOTHING to do with that. I like those pairings fine, but it has more to do with the fact that I need a break from the pairing.

Is anyone else like this or am I just crazy?

Some people don't get sick of it. Is it really impossible for you to comprehend other people reacting and acting and feeling differently than you?

Obviously you're not alone, there are always other fans out there that will feel the same and you can see this in the authors that skip around experimenting with different pairings or fandoms or just enjoying all sorts.

I feel the same about jobs. It's a strange idea to me that others can stay in one job for years and years and years because I get bored after like one year no matter how spectacular the job may be.

Takes all kinds to make the world go 'round.
