Popular fanons you just don't get

What are some details that pop up very often in fanfics that you have no idea where they came from?

Example: In one of my fandoms a character was shot and suffered from PTSD because of it. Almost every fanfic that takes place during that time period has her not sleeping in her bedroom because of reasons (these differ from fic to fic). But in canon we clearly see her waking up in her bed from nightmares on separate occasions. So where does this "can't be in my bedroom" thing come from?

Languages of F!S

Apart from the obvious english, what languages do you speak F!S? And what would you like to? And any good things to share with other learners?

My first language is actually gàidhlig/scots gaelic, but my fluency in it is terrible compared to my english. At various times I have tried to learn korean, japanese, latin, quenya (I think) and german (though that was taught in school). Right now I am learning esperanto, which is pretty fun compared to most other languages I've tried, swahili, which is hard to find resources for and is quite difficult, but not bad, and spanish, which seems really useful to have but I can't get my head around the genders or why there are several ways to say the same verb and which you use depends on the noun (and what if the gender of the subject and the object don't match?).

I mainly use memrise, which is usually good for individual words, but some courses have sentences as well, and duolingo, which I can only do spanish on right now but hopefully will have some other languages. I also use the various things listed here:

Liking anti-heroes

Backstory: I've just finished marathoning and catching up years worth of Naruto manga.

Here's what puzzles me: I like anti-heroes, grew up mmore prone to liking your Vegetas to your Son Gokus, your Phoenix Ikkis more than your Pegasus Seiyas, really. But I can't seem for the life of me understood liking Uchiha Sasuke. As a person he's terrible, easily-manipulated and self-centered to the extreme; as a character he's monotone and reacts to everything with ~angst and anger~.

Do you have characters like this, FS? Liking anti-hero types, but for some reason a particular one that you should like you ended up hating? Or other archetypes that you like, but for that one character you hate anyway?

Have you ever been fired from a job?

What was your experience? Did you deserve it? My roommate is in pieces right now because she was just fired, freaking out like it's a criminal record, and something you have to list on future job applications. Of course, she kind of deserved it, showed up late too often, but still.
