...that you last read or watched?

I just finished a book called 'The Harem of Aman Ackbar'. The cover has scantily-clad maidens being menaced by a crocodile; the titular Aman is basically Aladdin, used his genie wishes to first make himself rich, then get himself a nice selection of nubile brides from different cultures. He goes courting a 4th wife and gets turned into a donkey, and his 3 other wives (all different colors and personalities, gotta catch 'em all!!) have to go on a quest to restore him to human-ness. The book is a very pulp-fiction version of a fairy tale and it was terrible and amazing.

The Oogieloves. It's the adventures of a bunch of horrifying mascot-esque things trying to find the only five balloons in all of Lovelyloveville for their narcoleptic pillow friend's party, with the help of a bunch of actors who presumably couldn't talk their agents out of the movie. It's so bad it's amazing.

I've already talked about this on here before, but probably "I, Frankenstein" it was almost too stupid to be enjoyable, but not quite so it ended up being fun. I mean, any movie that involves a broody and inexplicably sexy Frankenstein's monster is bound to be somewhat amusing.

I also say a movie recently that was called "Grabbers" which I actually enjoyed. It's a dumb horror movie that takes place in Ireland about these sea creatures that are attacking people and taking their blood and the only way to save yourself is to get fucking wasted because alcohol is poison to them. It's as ridiculous as it sounds, but I was kind of surprised by how much I genuinely liked some of the characters. it also had Russell Tovey in it (George from Being Human) which I didn't know about, so that was a nice surprise.

Non-entertainment fandoms

So I'm sort of a fan of an... issue (should I call it that?) and the people involved. It's got groups of people who hate each other. It's got interesting costumes and violence and beautiful scenery.

It's not a serious issue, in the sense of life-or-death serious, or a major political issue (well, some people might consider it major, but it's not like a war or something). The people involved feel strongly about it, but I don't really have a "side." It doesn't even take place in my country. I just watch their YouTube videos and look at their Facebook pages where they post pictures pretty landscapes and cute animals and people on the other side so that they can make insulting comments on those peoples' looks and morals. I've gotten to recognize a few of the people involved and know their names. I don't stalk them, I just look at the content they post publicly on social media sites and read articles about them in regular newspapers.

I probably sound creepy, but it's all out there in public, and it wouldn't be if they had a problem with people seeing it (though one side tends to post pictures of the other side without their permission, and the other side might not like it. Nothing I can do about that, though.)

Is anyone else a "fan" of something that isn't actual entertainment?

Secret #14 reminded me of the F'nor raped Brekke thing and the other questionable stuff in the Pern books. I used to love those books and I wish I could go back to not seeing all the problems because it's tainted some of my favorite characters.

Stupid questions time: I've decided to go and get this game, but I'm so behind the times I don't even know how. Is it better to get it as like a CD in a box or to download it? My internet connection is unreliable so to have it off a CD would be my preference, can you buy it used? And does it require an internet connection to play? I've been told it's playable even for someone who's not great at combat, y'all better not have led me astray, lol.

My computer isn't the best but it handled the Sims and World of Warcraft so I think it would survive this....

Last night I woke up with this horrible shooting cramp down my right calf. I get those once in a while, but not super often; maybe three times (four counting this) in the last year? If that, but they're still super annoying, and it's weird, because it's always down the one calf, and nowhere else...

The only thing I can think of that I did differently yesterday was some rockclimbing, but even then, it was ~12 hours or so after I was done with that before the cramps started.

I did notice that, earlier, when I stepped down from a bus, the same foot hurt briefly on the instep, but I figured that that that was just from wearing the rock-climbing shows, and contorting my feet, and I honestly still don't know if there's any correlation.

And today, still, the same calf is still really sore, though it's not as painful anymore, and it has been all day; not enough for me to call it "in pain", but really weirdly sore.

Do these cramps feel familiar to anyone? I want to say that they're exercise induced cramps, but it was only in one leg/calf, and it wasn't until hours after I did any exercise, so I'm not sure if that's it.

Is there any way to avoid this that doesn't involve eating bananas? Or are bananas the only way to avoid cramps? Does banana bread count?

Sorry F!S, this has been bugging me all day, but I can't get into the student health clinic 'til tomorrow, so I figured I'd ask all y'all. :3

Requesting a game

I know we have some gamers here and was hoping for a hand. I'm looking for a sword and sorcery type game with a co-op setting. xbox, ps2, ps3 or LAN-linked computers.

My old housemate and I had a lot of fun playing the Halo series in co-op style. New housemate is willing to game with me but does not like shooting games. Her favourite games at the moment are Skyrim and Dragon Age, so something vaguely that like with a co-op setting would be great.

So, my roommate sleeps like a log. She has about 5 alarms, and half the time I still have to wake her up since we both leave at the same time. This morning I accidentally set my alarm for 7PM instead of 7AM. So I wake up at 7:40 and she's already gone. Didn't even bother waking me up even though I've done it for her many times in the past.
