I have returned. Thank you for the replies - they got me through a very crappy night, and basically reminded me why I love this comm.

I will pass on my respects to people who knew him (there are several at my uni, he was popular and very well-liked)and I know there will be at least a couple of fellow students I can discuss this with.

What's your favorite OOC fic?

Inspired by secret #5, what is the fic that you can't help loving even though it's OOC (or at least perceived that way)? Personally, I can enjoy an OOC fic to an extent. Then I'll come across one that makes me cringe and I have to hit that X.

Titanic AUs?!

Going through the crossovers/fandom fusions on AO3, and I just found two Titanic AUs in short order. I've run into two more on earlier occasions. I do not get it. I really, really don't get it.

Mind you, I might be being unfair to the second, third, and fourth instances. It's not their fault the first one -- the only one I attempted to read -- was a horrible conglomeration of a bodice-ripper romance novel and a horribly cliched any-two-guys slash fic, dressed in a shoddy Titanic costume, wearing a nametag of the other fandom it supposedly featured. God was it bad.

I just saw three of my childhood heroes live in concert for the first time. I never saw the appeal of Real Person Fic before. Now I'm shipping three seventy-year-olds with each other.

Anyone else follow this? I do, but have mixed feelings... I feel mostly it has a good point, but a lot of the people who follow it seem to just hate children.

I used to read it and some of the posts (and the comments on them) were brilliant, but lots of times I got the impression it wasn't the self-involved, oblivious parents they were bashing but the kids for existing and being, well, kids.

I finally ended up deleting the bookmark and never went back.
