I know some of you here are on it, because it was mentioned in a thread here before.

So, I started using it, mostly to refresh a few languages that I'm not sing so much. But, I wonder, does it actually culminate in something? Does it have an "end"?

Also I find myself instinctively understanding sentences, but I find it harder to write them down in English. I wonder if it's supposed to be like that, or if it's just me.

My neighbor's cat was an absolute sweetheart, friendly to everyone, and always wanting to love on people. She also always wanted to go into people's apartments, even when they weren't her own. The neighbors refused to keep her inside, because "she's just too sad indoors", even after getting several complaints about the cat wandering into people's apartments.

You'd think after getting the complaints, they'd keep her inside, or keep a better eye on her, but no, they let her keep wandering around.

Now she's missing, and there's a strong suspicion that she was poisoned by one of the people that was complaining, and I am super pissed.

I'm pissed off at the people who poisoned her- take her to a shelter if you absolutely have to teach the people a lesson about not letting their cat roam around! But I'm also so goddamn pissed at the cat's owners- you got several complaints (according to you!) about your cat, and her habit of wandering around, and what did you do? Nothing. How irresponsible do you have to be?

And the cat paid the price.

Fuck everything.

When I meet someone, I either idolize them and take every word they say as gospel and then feel betrayed when they say something I disagree with, or I don't trust them at all and think everything they say is a ploy to undermine me. It's not just with people either. I see the world in black and white when I know there are grays and I'd be so much happier if I could see them. Someone please tell me how I can get over this. I'm 23 and I feel like I've only been getting worse about this as I get older rather than better.

Book Club Thing

So, despite the fact that it's not happening, I have ridiculous questions about The Golem and the Jinni and figured maybe someone else read it/would have equally ridiculous answers for me, or other things to discuss.

Spoilers for the book follow:

My question is, how did the Jinni manage sexing up human ladies? We get told that he still can't handle water, he steams when he gets caught out in the rain. And vaginas are not exactly known for being dry. At least not when things are going as enjoyably as they evidently did with Sophia. You'd think that, seeing as the penis is full of sensitive nerve endings, he would have been in serious, serious pain during the entire act.

On a less 'why am I worrying about this' level, I really enjoyed the book. It was excellent and gorgeous.

Here's a specific example: I recently (thanks to an anon here) wrote a scene for a fic sequel where Javier, who formerly thought he was straight but has settled into a relationship with his best friend, who he learned was bi in the previous fic. Javier wants to give his first blowjob, but he's nervous. There's some light tied-to-the-bedpost bondage and he asks Kevin not to watch and wants him to wear a blindfold.

Now, the psychology of it all is that even though they've largely been equals in the bedroom, this is the one act that Javier has been hesitant about. Now he wants to do it for Kevin, but he needs to be in complete control to feel comfortable doing it. I sum it up with

He looked at Kevin, so patient and willing to be with him however he wanted. He hated asking for anything more from him after everything they'd done. But he had to.

“Could you...could you not look?” Kevin nodded. He understood. Javier could see it in eyes.

I've recently been told that it would be better if I expand on and insert all that 'Javier wants to be in control' information into the narrative. And IDK. I've read stories that do that, but I always feel like those scenes feel so...clinical. Less organic to the story and more like...I don't know how to say it, exactly, but like, an airing of personal stuff via fic.

Does that make sense? What do you guys prefer, either for this example, others, or in general.

disneyworld and universal orlando

Ok. For people in the know, can you help me out? I'm planning a trip to visit Wizarding World. Universal has a thing where if you stay at their hotel you get to go to WW an hour early and have breakfast at Three Broomsticks etc.
But! I also want to visit Disneyworld while I'm in Orlando (duh) but I can't seem to find any straightforward info on how one would get from a Universal hotel to Disney. Anyone done it?

I just got a letter reminding me about my appointment with a dietician post official diabetes diagnosis, and it hit me that that's something that will need paid for, and I'm not sure my insurance will cover it.

So now I'm asking myself if she's going to tell me anything I don't already know but just wasn't doing because I'm lazy. Or will she tell me anything that I don't know and can't learn with a few visits to reputable websites?

And part of it is that I don't want to spend money if I don't have to, but also I guess I'm still a little in denial, and if I call my insurance company, it's like super real. But I kind of feel like my denial is a tiny bit justified (doesn't everybody...) because when the results came back from my first A1C, my doctor certainly seemed very optimistic and made a point to say that my triglycerides from a screening that had been done recently at work (which is where I became concerned about glucose after previously being in the safe zone) were amazing and usually they're all fucked up when diabetes is a factor. He certainly didn't tell me "one more high A1C" means your diabetic -- in fact, I feel like I remember him saying the opposite, that if it hadn't gone down to where we wanted with some lifestyle changes, it didn't necessarily mean I was diabetic yet, just that we needed to try some different things to keep from becoming diabetic. And since I didn't make drastic changes, only small ones, maybe there's still room and hope or something.

I haven't actually talked to my doctor since March, this was I don't even know who from the lab.

I don't know, so dietician: Yay or nay?

I don't understand the common trope of using vampires/werewolves/similar things as a metaphor for gay people. I understand why this was used in the past, for subtly, but I don't understand why it's such a prevalent trope, for the whole 'unfair persecution' thing. A vampire or a werewolf seems like something that honestly presents a significant threat, and is understandable to persecute, whereas a gay person...
I was reminded by someone making a similar connection about Beauty and the Beast on fs the other day.
