Creating a rant thread.

Because I want to rant about my professor who has added extra work to my project so that I'm going to have to work into my week off to get it finished. And who still has not sent me back edits to what I've sent her so far even though she said she'd get it to me two weeks ago. And who has not gotten me the documents I need even though she said she would a week ago.

I'm having a fit of pretty severe self-hatred and I don't want to disturb any of my friends, so I've come to f!s ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sometimes I think I should just lock myself up in a hut on some awfully remote island so that other people would never have to deal with me again. Right now I'm basically convinced that everyone who's ever befriended me has done so by mistake and that they'll end up realizing it and ditching me.

It's freezing cold and there's a ton of snow. Our local weather reporter said that there would be no more snow falling last night so I went out and shoveled. This morning: another two inches and at least ten degrees colder.

Vendor Q,

We process invoices. Not packing slips, not billing manifests, and certainly not order confirmations, because none of those state which items we sent back because you sent them in unusable condition. Every other vendor gets this by now! At this point, whenever we get anything from you that isn't an invoice, it goes straight in the shredder, and when you call us a month later demanding your payment, we tell you to send us an invoice!

Vendor A never prints out which items we returned as unusable, nor does it send us credit memos telling us how much it owes us for our payments on those items. It only marks in pen what we returned, and if the markings are unclear, we pay in full rather than risk underpayment and pissing off a major vendor. I thought that was obnoxious until we started buying from you, who do the same with one exception: you send credit memos if and only if the division that bought the goods asks for them for those specific goods. That means we have to pay for spoiled fruit and moldy vegetables, because we never know if there's a credit memo coming and we just haven't got it yet! My boss is keeping a running tally of how much you owe us, and he's going to ask for payment in full at the end of the quarter. If you squawk, I expect you'll no longer be one of our vendors.

We paid you in advance for unlimited pest control for one year. I understand you still need to track time and supplies used. With that in mind, what do you expect us to do with an invoice for zero dollars?

Ugh. I can't stand people who act like their time is more important than yours, yet can't even be bothered to hold themselves to their own standards.

Now my rant:

Dear neighbor who can't be bothered to shut up about her apparent disappointment in her dog while walking "Fifi" back home,

Stop calling her a "bad girl" for not going to the bathroom, you profoundly moronic twat. A dog is not good or bad for not shitting at your convenience. It shits because it needs to, and has no reason to hold it in out of spite. If her digestive schedule is such a problem, take Fifi to the vet and/or change her diet. At least stop talking so damn loud at ungodly hours of the night when you pass my unit and everyone else's. WE CAN HEAR YOU. JFC.

I've been feeling guilty about everything. I can't do anything because I have some reason to feel guilty about doing that instead of something else. I feel like I do nothing but waste money without giving anything back but I have no way to make money that doesn't require some other way of bothering other people (e.g. needing rides to work if I was miraculously hired by someone).

Also, I hate the lab part of science classes. It doubles the amount of time I need to spend in class without doubling the amount of credit I get, which means there's less time in my schedule for other classes I need. Plus I'm just not a hands on person. I will gladly read theory for hours instead of doing this stuff myself.

Anybody else interested in doing a little something like the book club, but with pushups? While lifting an increasingly heavier weight and running the same distance but slightly faster is wonderful and all, I suggest that we here at f!s test ourselves against some of the world's fitness standards, be it military, police, or search and rescue. Then we post weekly updates as to whether or not we passed (preferably with vids if you don't mind going un-anon!) and move on to the next one.

These will generally require:
-Pushups
-Situps
-Jogging/Running
-Pullups/Chinups

As such these are a good place to get started:
Couck to 5K
One Hundred Pushups
Twenty Pullups
Two Hundred Situps
(Don't worry, you won't need to max these to complete any of the challenges.)

The scheme I have in mind is this:

The CF-EXPRES fitness test for non-combatants in the Canadian Forces (Easy Mode)

The Infantry fitness test for the US Army (Normal Mode)

The fitness test for the Marines of the US Navy (Hard Mode)

The fitness test to get into US Army's Ranger School (Nightmare Mode)

For the interested, Easy Mode entails 19 pushups for men (14 if you're over 35), or 9 pushups for women (7 if you're over 35), 19 situps for men (17 if you're over 35), 15 situps for women (12 if you're over 35), a 75 kg (165 lb) grip strength for men (73 (160) if you're over 35), 50 kg (110 lb) for women (48 (105) if you're over 35), a 2.4 km (1.5 mile) run of under 11:56 for men (12:26 if you're over 30, 12:56 if you're over 35, 13:25 if you're over 40), or 14:26 for women (14:55, 15:25, 15:55 for the upper age brackets respectively). For a super easy way to test grip strength, if you weigh more than the above, try hanging off of a bar. If you can do that, you're golden. If you don't, put the extra weight you need in a back pack and try hanging off of a bar.
