People I've followed seem to be pretty high on s8. But that's admittedly just one slice of fandom.

For me, personally... I almost feel guilty, but I hated it. I don't hate Moffat (I don't love him either, but he's certainly capable of making Who that I love), and I love Capaldi, but the season was a huge turn-off for me. I really do feel guilty because I think there's enough haters out there and I feel bad for the fans and I want to support them, but the combination of the way the Doctor & companion dynamics storyline played out, and the general aesthetic choices and the style of storytelling in the season, just completely didn't work for me and made the show actively unpleasant to watch.

Text: I don’t understand why I’ve been so passive all my years in fandom. 90% of the time I don’t eagerly participate in things, yeah.

But in fandom, a lot of my usual barriers aren’t there. I don’t have to use my RL identity, or be in all my fandoms under the same name. I’ve always admired, not judged the hell out of, people who hone their skills through fanwork. And I still wouldn’t take on something like being a mod, if I wasn’t sure I could handle it. It seems like the only reason is laziness.

I'm fine with reading text based ones, or transcripts.
I'm fine with audio.
I'm fine with gifs from interviews.
I'm fine watching them present stuff.
I'm 100% ok with interviews of celebs I don't care for the same way.
The ones I like aren't even that bad as interviewees.
It's just...an odd feeling. Like I'm embarrassed to see them like that.

The whole "GEMSONA" craze in the Steven Universe fandom that's been blowing up lately really makes me worry that it's gonna cause the show's popularity to collapse in on itself and make non-fans have an innate negative opinion of it much like what "bronies" did to my little pony, which would just be inexcusable considering how fucking flawless of a show it is

i know it's stupid to think that but i've seen similar things happen in the past so I can't help but be apprehensive about OC fads in general
