People who pretend to be animals and sometimes have sex while dressed as them. Who have had a new generation turn into (sometimes) otherkin and proclaim they are oppressed by the vanillas of the sex world (or compare themselves to transgender people).

I feel bad for the older furries who just want to wear their cat suit and rub up against someone dressed in a tiger suit.

I'm so sick of people applying arguments to life-or-death situations when they clearly weren't meant to be used that way, and then acting like the person who first made the argument was so silly for even thinking about something less serious.

Like, you're talking about something, and the person won't listen, and you tell them so, and they start lecturing you about how they couldn't stop to listen if someone were attacking them with a knife, then they'd be DEAD (to be read in a nasty, fed-up-with-your-naivete snarl), but obviously you weren't attacking them so why bring it up? But, oops, they've made the conversation SERIOUS. About life and death, and Real Things. And you, silly person, still thinking about nonsense that isn't quite that important? You think you still have the right to say anything, when you should just stand there in a mass of shame and humiliation and WRONGNESS for thinking about silly, petty things when SERIOUS MATTERS OF LIFE AND DEATH exist?

So, yet again, I have made an utter ass of myself, proven myself to be a stupid, frivolous, naive, ridiculous child, one of the masses of human garbage, held up in contrast to a Real Person.

Belly button infection? (TMI)

Yesterday I had been sitting at the computer for a while, got up, and noticed my belly button hurt, sort of like the skin had been burned. It had a sort of red ring inside it near the edge, with some dried pus, and more pus farther inside.

I put some hydrogen peroxide on it and cleaned the pus away. Today the red ring is still there, but no more pus.

I am overweight, and wondering if maybe this came from my belly button being sort of... pressed shut when I'm sitting down? It felt like it hurt less after I'd been standing up.

I googled "infected belly button" and got a bunch of sites about home remedies and stuff, not necessarily legit medical stuff.

Has this happened to you? Does it go away quickly?

Have you ever seen people break rules/laws at work?

Academia question

I'm writing a paper about tumblr fandom drama (which is actually kind of cool, haha). Thing is, this is a drama I participated in. Am I allowed to quote myself without disclosing that it's me, or should I stick to what other people said?
The only reason I'm at all considering is because it involved translation, and like basically everybody else, I chimed in with the classic "I speak Japanese/have Japanese friends, therefore [opinion]". My quote is only helpful because it got reblogged a bunch of times, but it's not like it's the only representative quote.

I'm the anon who posted hate against you. I regretted it as soon as I posted it but can't delete anon comments.

I can't lie and say I don't find your comments on FS under your username insufferable, because I do. But that's no excuse for me to either 1: connect that to you as a real person because I don't know you irl at all and for all I know you might be a really nice wonderful person who just happens to be bad at internet commenting or 2: make assumptions about you based on personal venting about immediate difficulties you did months ago. I think your comments reminded me (superficially) of extremely unpleasant people I knew in other fandoms and I projected my dread of them and their lifestyles on you.

The internet exposes our cowardly asshole side and I guess it exposed mine. I'll remember it and think about why I felt irritable and whiny enough to take the time and effort to write a shitty comment like that just because I was annoyed at someone.

Best "First Episode" To Introduce Your Favorite?

I tend to actually like the whole "begin at the beginning" method if I'm going to try to introduce someone to something, but I know that there are other options.

(Most famously, "Blink" as a gateway drug to Doctor Who, which I think is a horrible idea precisely because it is so different. It won't give someone an actual idea of whether or not they would like Doctor Who as a whole.)

So if you were going to try to interest someone in your favorite episodic media property, where would you start, and why?
