I think their chemistry as friends was pretty awesome - they both knew and supported Picard so well, but in such different ways. Never saw it as more, but it's not totally far-fetched, I guess. Picard's reaction would be interesting, to say the least!

Riker did marry Troi in the last movie though. I know that some people ignore the films, but they are technically canon. ;)

I thought the point of Gary was to be the fans of the Muppets. I mean, if I could go and meet them, I would! He's supposed to be all of the fans who love and miss the Muppets and want them to come back. He's not a Gary Stue (I don't think), he's just another character. And, yeah, it's his hearing of the Evil Plot that leads him to Kermit, but do you really think that Kermit would have run off to find everyone if he didn't really want to? Honestly, I think Kermit needed someone from outside the Muppet show to show him that people really do care. If it had been someone we knew about, I feel like Kermit would have felt like he was being patronized, you know?
