Was hoping not to be one of the first poster on here, but oh well. So with the recent murder of Alison Parker my circle has become abuzz with the discussions of men committing mass shootings and gun violence committed against women. What do you all think? Why are mass shootings so much more common among men than women? Please don't say "Toxic Masculinity" unless you are willing to follow it up by drawing some direct iron-clad and very easy to follow lines that lead to this conclusion (I do agree many men are guilty of toxic masculinity but I have never had its link to gun violence explained adequately People just say "This is toxic masculinity" and walk away like they just dropped the mic or something). I do know women are capable of violence, but why is it this type of violence seem to be explicitly in the wheelhouse of men?

Why is so much fanfiction of TV shows terrible?

Every time I fall in love with something televised, whether it's an anime or a cartoon or a live-action show, I make the mistake of looking for fic, only to be reminded of why I generally stick to book fandoms even though they're usually small and don't have as much activity.

I don't want to come off as an elitist snob, but I'm starting to wonder if all the stereotypes about too much TV making you dumb are true. Because holy shit.

BUT.

I do like to listen to thing some of them. I know they're ignorant hateful shits, but they're not being ignorant or heteful to ME. As a man, I find it so comforting to feel like somone cares about things that affect me. I know I should feel this way about feminism, and I wholeheartedly support all forms of feminism in any way I can. but I never feel like feminism, in all it's stripes, will ever want to support me back, and that's ok and right and good, there's a horrible little treacherous part of me that has spent the last week and a half eating up MRA videos on youtube, fully acknowledgeing that they're scum, but feeling comforted and... I dont know. protected? Defended?

Bah. I know it makes me a bad person, and I know this means that there's atleast a part of me that is completley at odds with women, but, I don't know I just wanted to get that out. Maybe I'm fishing, I don't know.

Encyclopedia Dramatica is losing its shit

Some show called Gen Zed that's inspired by The Young Ones just put out its first trailer. Encyclopedia Dramatica already thinks it will be the worst thing ever and is barraging the creator with hate, because apparently having a trans main character is bad and wrong for some reason. I haven't seen this much concentrated butthurt since Johnny Test got popular.

Why oh why is all the MMFR fic so...uh.... (tw brief mention of rape)

from what I can tell, 80+% of the fan fiction for Mad Max: Fury Road is either rape/otherwise coercive sexual or sexualized situation-based (who came out of that movie and thought "I want to see Cheedo raped" I don't know but) or, for fuck's sake, Nux/Slit slash (slash everyone/Slit slash). Slit is a very minor character and hardly sympathetic and why is fandom being...so fandom-y about it.

tl;dr: I just want some paternal!Max and badass Furiosa and light femslash and miles upon miles of well-earned h/c please.

There are 985 English fanfic for "Mad Max Series (Movies)". Of those, 83 are tagged for rape/noncon. Considering that rape/noncon is pretty heavily tagged (I rarely see it untagged) that s way less than 80%. I see two fics for dubcon.

As for pairings, Furiosa/Max is the highest at 207. Nux/Capable at 182. Nux/Slit is third at 69. Of the top 6 pairings, only 1 has slit.
