Me too. I do watch the modern adaptations but still get thrown when people say John/Sherlock. It just feels... weird. Especially Sherlock because it's not a common first name and there's virtually no way you could say it without people remarking about ACD Sherlock Holmes only that doesn't happen in the adaptations for obvious reasons.

My brain hurts.

I'm the opposite. I prefer canon ships (there are very few things I ship that aren't canon), though I definitely don't ship all canon ships and lmao some canon ships are NOTPs of mine.

Idk. I think it's because I'm more interested in intrapolation rather than extrapolation. Like, I'm a lot more interested in analyzing the characters' canon traits and interactions than I am in imagining alternate canons, if that makes sense.

I loved it.

But then I grew up reading the manga and not watching the anime. So I don't have a lot of nostalgia specific to the anime. So yeah. I enjoyed it a lot.

And on a slightly related note, I've been thinking today about who Aang's parents were. He never talked about them, and I could understand them giving him up to the temple when they were unformed that he was the avatar, but he supposedly was "discovered" by asking him to ID objects from his past lives, which he still remembers doing at age 12.

I'm wondering whether all Airbender kids were raised in temples while their parents did the "Nomad" part, or was Aang orphaned or what? The complete absence of curiosity about that point is strange to me, especially when you have Sokka and Katara, who are constantly talking about their Dad and often mourning their mother.
