Does anyone else have problems with LJ at the moment?

I'm still using my account for a few communities, but for the last two weeks or so the site only loads in the barest html or loads only half or doesn't load at all, even if I manage to log in. I can't even get through to the support pages. I've tried different browsers and different computers, but it's the same everywhere.

Fantasy or sci-fi living?

Would you prefer to live in a fantasy world or a sci-fi world?

For purposes of simplicity, fantasy world is going to imply pre-modern, pre-industrial revolution society where magic exists and technology is limited. Sci-fi implies a futuristic world where technology is super advanced but there is no magic. Give me details!

Favorite Autumnal / Melancholy Things

I guess those are two different things, but I always find fall a little bit melancholy, so it works in my head.

Anyway: fall is here, or will soon be here, so what are your favorite elements of fall? Scarves? Pumpkin spice? Football? Anything goes.

How does being trans* without dysphoria make sense?

Performative gender stereotypes may assist people who suffer from dysphoria be more comfortable with themselves, that doesn't mean because you break stereotypes you're suddenly not a woman. It seems like we're regressing and being a tomboy must mean now that you're literally no longer a woman.

Any good links would be appreciated because all the articles I've seen supporting it have just been word salad.

How not to advertise your GSA group

So I teach for a small liberal arts college, and as I was leaving class the other day, I saw a poster advertising the school's LGBT student alliance with a huge picture of......Steven Universe.

I'm a little dismayed at how uncritically SU has been absorbed into young people's vision of LGBT issues. I appreciate that fiction is a great way to represent/work through/understand real world issues, but the boy with the bedazzled belly is not really an appropriate representative of the LGBT movement today.

I was going to have a burger from the meat market/deli in town (they are delicious). I've been looking forward to it all day. Had my order written up. Was thinking about that delicious pepper jack cheese. Was going to eat some awesome fries. I called to place my order and they said they had close the grill early. Now I have no idea what to eat for dinner because nothing else will be as good.
