I actually have a crush on someone. I've been single for six years (I'm 22), and the one and only actual date I've ever been on was four years ago. But, suddenly my brain's gone into 'oh em gee, that is some fine looking shit right there' mode on me, and it's kind of weird.

What's the deal with this being used to patronise and reduce the agency of asian women, and attack interracial relationships.

Like (invariably asian men or white women) gone on about how white men are only dating all these asian women because they think they're subservient, which hasn’t really been a real prevalent stereotype since the vietnam war, but let’s set that aside, and ignore this is saying these women are entirely incapable of realising this.

They’re criticising what they see as patronisation, and then saying that the women are too stupid to see when men are fetishizing them, or entirely incapable of saying no. Or that it’s impossible that asian women are doing fetishisation of their own.

Today I decided to bring some order to my archive and started going through it in the search of low-quality works to throw away. For a long time this has been something I habitually did - as my skill improved, I felt that I no longer needed to keep my earlier works around.

But it was completely different this time. I kept doubting whether I should keep going or leave that part of the archive alone; and how I should treat individual works. Whenever I spotted something bad, my brain went all "yeees well the technique is poor, but LOOK the idea was awesomesauce!!" or "weell yeeah both the technique and the idea are awful, but it reminds me of this and that and I don't want to throw it away". :/

How do you deal with your early/bad works? Do you keep them at all? I started to think that maybe I should buy another file and put all the bad-but-good works into it so that I'd never have to consider the question again.

A rant about critiquing and respect

Okay first of I’m just going to say I’ve had good and bad experiences on reddit. (inb4”ugh it’s reddit though”) And honestly this thing I’m talking about this attitude is everywhere on the internet

Someone advertised a critique community (when there’s already two communities exactly like that. Someone says “we already have this and links to the subreddit. then someone else makes a comment that annoys me “oh but that’s not critique it’s coddling. I went in the community and took a look at some of the stuff there. In my time of looking I saw good LONG critiques that covered a host of grammar writing and wording problems , I saw some harsh but good critiques , someone telling the author their working was pretentious, was confusing, had bat formatting.

Even the harshest critiques still had some level of respect for the author. They didn’t call the author names or say it was “just shitty” , they pointed out bluntly ‘this is a cliche you probably shouldn’t use.”

This is what is ‘coddling’ to people? Honestly? I just… ugh. I’m so sick of people acting like any critique that is even a little bit positive is inferior. I’m sick of people thinking they’re good critics if they can stomp out a person’s confidence completely. The only person who’s allowed to have any confidence in themselves is the “critic” everyone else has to hang their head low and agree that they’re just “full of shit” and should quit.

FitzSimmons is my favorite thing about the show. Like OP, I don't really care that it's cliche, but I like having two people who care about each other and have a common interest.

I actually do like May, though I'd like her (and everyone else) to get a lot more development. I don't mind Ward or Skye, but I'm not particularly interested in anyone except Fitz and Simmons.

Look I get that you thought you were helping, but sometimes the best way is to show by example and let the kid figure it out own his/her own.

Plus, how do you know your cousin would have learned his/her lesson if things had gone the way you planned. Kids may be smart, but they can also be stubborn and don't always listen to their elders.
