How would you adapt your favorites?

A while back, someone had a fairly believable take for how to do a Wonder Woman movie to show that it was possible, and I'd love to see if anyone else had something like that.

So, what's your idea? For the unfilmable? To fix the adaptions that are already out there to make them work? To get rid of that thing you hate? To showcase the one villain/superhero/storyline that's never shown? Whatever!

I'd love to see what you think could actually make for a good or profitable movie. Also, if there's something out there you'd like to see a good movie adaption for but can't think of how to do it, put a prompt and maybe someone will help you out.

I love the character of Plastic-man, so much more than the other superheroes whose shtick is elasticity because he doesn't just stretch - - he forms himself into all kinds of wacky and ALMOST disguising shapes. Like, he's dropping down on a bad guy so he makes himself into an anvil (but still wearing a red leotard and goggles), or he's investigating a theft at a wharf so his head is shaped like a fish. And his alterego is a pretty thief, but he spends almost all his time as Plastic-Man.

A Doctor Strange movie that plays almost as much like a drama as a blockbuster action movie. Strange's origin isn't shown at all - he's simply introduced to us as Stephen Strange, Sorcerer Supreme. It's as much about him solving a mystery, tinged with fantastic and cross-dimensional and horror elements, as about him having super-battles. He doesn't come to any realizations or Heed The Call. He's a mature, sensible hero who takes care of his business. Also, he has a teenage girl apprentice who does get into trouble, because that would own.

I'd love a The Giver movie. It would have to be fairly dark. The main actor would have to be young and there would obviously be no shitty romance story. And it would start out in black and white.

I'd love a House of Leaves movie. It'd have to be a miniseries or like 3 movies. That is all I got so far. It'd be weird as fuck.

The big one that I would love to see adapted is Michael Chabon's YA Summerland. It would be especially nice to see it in animation; I can easily see it fitting into Laika's portfolio (Coraline, ParaNorman).

With regards to the execution of the plot, I'd just make sure not to compltely shy away from the dark elements. The void stuff is creepy as hell and I love it for that. (If Into the Woods can get away with what they did at a PG from DISNEY, this can easily be done at a PG.) And that both Ethan and Jennifer T. have kind of shitty parents, and even magic can't completely fix that.

It's got such potential for being a movie that appeals to slightly older children, and adults (omg the part about the DH rule...!). Sasquatches! Giants! Mythology! And saving the world with magic baseball! What's not to love?

BUT.

Here's the major sticking point. This is a book with 6 Native American characters: the female lead, her great-uncle is an important supporting character, and then her father and 3 great-aunts are in some scenes. I would require that whatever format the adaption used, those characters must be played by Native American actors/VAs. This shouldn't be so fucking hard, but obviously it is. Just looking at Laika's cast for Kubo and the Two Strings shows it wouldn't even happen at the studio I feel it would fit with.

Make it happen, but make it happen right.

I'm a huge Marvel reader and I read several "indie" titles as well, but recently I've been starting to look into DC. Any recs? Mostly looking for current titles or Nightwing or Green Arrow favorite stories.

There's this stupid-as-fuck idea I keep seeing all over my dash – sometimes in reblogs by people who are otherwise not total idiots, but for some reason have bought into this ridiculous misconception. Namely, the idea that all of humanity lived in peace and harmony and no one ever tried to conquer or enslave anyone else until TEH EVUL EUROPEENS!1!!11!

I'm sorry, but no. Pre-colonial South America and Central America beg to differ. Ever heard of the Incan empire? The Mayan empire? The Aztec empire? Do you know what the word "empire" means? It means: "We maintain our political power by conquering the fuck out of everyone around us." The Romans weren't the only ones who did that, you know.

Also, the ancient Egyptians were invaded by their very NOT-European neighbours on multiple occasions, and you'd think the tumblr SJW crowd would be aware of that, since they clearly are soooooo knowledgable about Egypt. I mean, tumblrinas sure seem fond of taking every opportunity to remind everyone that EGYPT IS PART OF AFRICA AND EGYPTIANS ARE NOT WHITE. Well, no shit Sherlock. You know what? I have never heard anyone deny that Egypt is part of Africa. That's basic fucking geography. Anyone who's ever looked at a fucking map knows that. And I'm pretty sure most people who know anything at all about history also know that the ancient Egyptians weren't white, that's another fucking no-brainer. Yeah, they're always played by pasty white actors in movies, but so what? It's fucking movies. Everyone knows not to trust Hollywood to be historically accurate. Braveheart had William Wallace knocking up Isabella of France, for fucks sake. The only people who believe the shit they see in movies are gullible idiots. You too are a gullible idiot AND a tool if you honestly think you're somehow promoting social justice by pointing out that Egypt is part of Africa (again, something anyone can figure out just by looking at a fucking map).

RTD Era poster? Or fanart?

So I'm planning on meeting John Barrowman at a con in March and getting him to sign something. My one question is what. Usually I have actors sign DVDs that I own, but the First Series boxset I have doesn't have him anywhere on the cover or disks and I always loved Doctor Who and SJA over Torchwood.

And then I thought about posters. I like getting posters with multiple characters on them, so I have a sort of Pokemon collect-them-all goal. I actually already own this poster. The only downside is that I'll never be able to get Elisabeth Sladen's signature which might be kind of depressing. That and it is a very staged shot.

My other thought would be to somehow get a print of this 9th doctor era fanart which I absolutely adore. The only downside is that if I ever manage to track down David, his signature would have to be on a different thing...

IDK, my question is this. What would you guys rather get the signature on? Poster or fanart?

Mine today is websites that force you to change your password. Fuck it, I already make mine complicated to make it harder to break> It is hard enough memorizing them the first time. Having to make a whole new one every few months just pisses me off. You know what, I should get to pick whatever the hell password I want.

Have you ever hated something because you have seen/heard it to much?

Nirvana came on the radio at work today, so I spent four minutes trying to block it out. I enjoy music similar to Nirvana but my sister had(has) an obsession with them when I was growing up. She would listen to Nirvana CONSTANTLY and when Kurt Cobain died she mourned for like...weeks. So, I eventually grew to dislike all of their music. >:(

I also hate the movie V For Vendetta because my (ex) step-mother was obsessed with it and watched it repeatedly. So my hate of her has transferred to a hate of the movie.

What are some things that have been killed by overexposure (and/or negative connotations) for you?

Anyone else get second hand embarrassment easily, and have trouble watching things because of it? I have so much trouble watching celebrities doing interviews, especially celebrities I like. :/ I also can't watch "awkward" comedy shows, like Parks and Rec. It just makes me cringe.
