General comments:

Whom do you identify yourself with?

Do you generally identify with fictional characters? If yes, which ones?

It's 'cause I just discovered that the only characters I can feel are Colonel Cathcart, General Peckem, Rosalind Franklin from The Double Helix (I don't think I have a clear enough concept of her RL self) and freaking Gollum.
I may or may not have some problems with self-esteem.

These really aren't scary at all, but they can be surprising.

Hello! I'm filling in for just a day. Nice to be back, and I've got- well, the usual amount of pictures, but animals that do think make very interesting subjects! Today's pictures showcase the common house gecko, or H. frenatus. This little reptile (definitely not an insect, it eats insects) originated in and around Southeast Asia and goes by a bunch of names there all based on its very distinctive call. Here, more people will likely be familiar with the term 'cicak' than they will with 'gecko'.

If you see one, do not panic! These guys are pretty much totally harmless to people and have no venom or anything like that, even if they can give you a shock when they pop out upside down from out of seemingly nowhere. Also, despite originating in Southeast Asia, they've spread all over the world and can be found in Australia, the Southern United States, as well as lots of Central and South America, Africa, most of Asia and the Middle East. Adaptable and hardly, these guys are.

Anyway, let's take a closer look at them. I think they're pretty cute, what about you?

I'm the DW anon from yesterday. I think I needed to be kicked - 's good for my ego. It's really a problem that I concentrate on the soul-searching of this kind, but I actually am not sure what to do with it. It just seems to come up here and there, no matter how hard I try to ignore it. The fact that all the people around me seem to agree does not exactly help.

Anyway, thank you. Sometimes I feel like a negative response does for me loads of good more than a positive one - although, granted, on f!s it only happened to me twice.

They're not doing it because they don't know it's wrong or they've never been sat down by their mother and had a good heart to heart.

I have absolutely no formal training with computers aside from having used them for 12 years (since we first got the internet when I was 12). Yet in my home, I'm the tech-girl-guy. The internet went down? It's my problem, and my problem alone. Never-mind that the solution was to flip the switch on the power strip and off. Where my parents are concerned, I can do some kind of magic interneting. It gets very frustrating when I'm faced with them having downloaded a jillion viruses and can't even get on the computer to fix it.

A while ago, I posted here saying that I was interested in a particular book, but had made the mistake of looking at the reviews, and was bothered by how mixed they were. Well, I finally got my hands on said book yesterday, and so far I really, really like it. Sure, it's not The Most Excellent Work of Literature Ever, but I tend to forget one very important fact: I don't care.

I do agree with the one thing all the reviews agreed on: that it gets kind of rushed as it goes on, and that there is a lot of wasted potential that could have been explored if the book were twice the length it is, but...if nothing else, I am a skilled headcanonist, and can easily reimagine anything that doesn't satisfy me.

Sadly, I already know the ending. Death, betrayal, and friendships demolished all around. This, my comm-mates, is what I practice for. This is where my talent shines.
