Food Confusion

Lately I've been baking salty bread rolls, some with pepper and tomatoe, some plain. My mother complained because she wanted to put marmelade on her, so I grabbed a pack of cinnamon sugar to sweeten a plain batch a bit... except that the baked bread rolls smell intesily like cinnamon and sweets but actually still taste only like plain and salty bread roll.

Whenever I eat one of them my nose and my mouth tend to send mixed signals to my brain, making the act of eating very very confusing.

So FS! what about you, ever eaten something that tasted completely different from what you imagined/smelled? Was it a better experience? Was it a self-made concoction? Share you strange food stories here.

Do you have any platonic OTPs OR romantic OTPs that you love reading platonic friends stories about?

For instance Donna Noble and Ten are my number one, all time platonic OTP. I love them together as friends and can never see them as a romantic couple.

And I ship Sherlock/John like nobody's business BUT I love reading frienship stories about them. Honestly, I sometimes prefer the platonic stories about them!

There was a secret about it, and now I'm curious.

If you're on good terms with your family who are rich even if you're under 18 or not personally wealthy and that influences your lifestyle, I would say that counts too.

Venting

Walmart told me at the end of my shift that they had to let me go because...well when I was training for the job I signed up for, in the backroom, I had a sort of a panicky reaction to going on the ladders. My trainer asked me if I was afraid of heights and when I said yes, she took me to Personnel and said I couldn't do this job if I was afraid of heights and told me to go back to working the register.

They didn't make accommodations or tried to work around it. It was just one try and bam, done. I suppose I should have insisted on giving it another go but I dunno.

They said because it was a temp job that they couldn't change me to another position like what they did at another Walmart, but I could try to reapply in 30 days.

I feel pretty down, I looked for 8 months and now I have to go back to looking, all because of not being able to climb a ladder. I just hope I can get back there, or find another job.

I feel like a shitty employee,I did my best at the register hoping it would make up for it. It just wasn't good enough.

(some of my friends suggested it might have been discrimination and I should call HQ. I did tell them I had an autism spectrum disorder when I hired because I was wondering if that would be a factor on whether I might be kept after the temp position was over and they said it wouldn't I just want to try reapplying in 30 days just to see if I'll stand a chance. They did tell me that they weren't disciplining me and it was a safety thing)

All in all, it's really disappointing. I was so happy.

Grumpy venting

I have phoned the emergency dental clinic twice a day since last Monday! Every single time I've lost the phone lottery and been redialling so long that by the time I got into the queue all the appointments were long gone.

The A&E (British ER) receptionist wouldn't even fucking hear me out; she cut me off when I mentioned it was originally a gum infection, and threatened to get security to make me leave. I didn't even see the fucking triage nurse.

Now there's no point in me phoning the emergency dentist until Thursday, since I don't have the bus fare needed to get down to there. I'd have it if the jobcentre weren't such raging gits though. I reclaimed my bus fare from last week (you get paid jobseeker's allowance fortnightly, and if they make you go to the jobcentre weekly you can reclaim the travel expenses from the non-payment week). This goes straight into my bank account, and even though they can do same or next day ones, the advisor refused to speed mine up for any reason and left it as the default three days, thus leaving me under the minimum funds needed to withdraw money.

This rules out trying the hospital again before then, since I also need a bus to get there, which sucks. I'll see if I have more luck with my GP in the morning; they're in walking distance at least.
