Do you have any? Especially other than the "obvious" like abusiveness and poor hygiene.

I regularly reject people on OKC for having certain books or shows listed as their favorites. I wouldn't refuse to be friends with people based on this, but there are some books/shows/people where I just assume I won't be compatible with anyone who lists them as their favorites.

I'm kinda torn on this. On the one hand, it's right up there with 'Archie meets The Punisher' in terms of 'What the hell, now I gotta read this' for me... but OTOH, AoT/SnK isn't my cuppa (all I know about it, I learned from Tumblr dash osmosis), and the fact a fair majority of Marvel heroes and villains could wipe the floor with the Titans without breaking a sweat tests my suspension of disbelief. =T

But ehhh... what say you?

I liked the fic, but I'm loving the incredible art. Beautiful and distressing and very detailed and rich.

Comments on weight/appearance (possible TW maybe?)

So, I've lost a decent amount of weight recently. Not many people have commented, but when they have it's always been positive. But recently, a regular client at work mentioned it, and it really weirded me out. She said it in this really rude, hostile, accusing way (it was so bizarre, I've never seen anyone react that way before) and it caught me so off guard that I didn't even know what to say at first. I tried to brush it off as just the clothes I was wearing, but she kept on. I finally just said "ok, maybe a little" and luckily another client walked in then and I was able to excuse myself to go help them.

This particular woman is a really longtime client, and seems to have a bit of a weird preoccupation with my weight. Over the years she's made multiple comments about it (sometimes she'd comment that I'd gained weight, and others that I'd lost weight, even though in the past when she'd bring it up I was always about the same weight) and she'll often make judgmental comments about my clothing (and one time the color of nail polish I was wearing). She's overweight herself, so I don't know if she's jealous that I've lost weight and that's why she's acting the way she is or what, but I'm getting tired of her attitude. She's one of these people that has zero tact, and pretty much everything that comes out of her mouth sounds rude.

Her constant comments on my appearance really bother me, to the point where I've even brought it up to my boss. My boss didn't understand me being bothered by this lady's comments on my weight and said that I'm not allowed to say anything to the woman about it because we can't risk losing her business.

I know it's completely ridiculous, and I shouldn't let this woman's opinion affect me like this, but I can't help but be bothered by it. I thought "well, I'll just make sure to always wear a baggy sweatshirt or something when she comes in so maybe my weight won't be obvious and she won't comment on it", which I know is really pathetic of me, and then I start wondering whether I even want to lose anymore weight (I still have a bit more to go before I'm where I want to be) if it's just going to cause comments like this.

Has anyone had any experiences like this or any advice or anything? I just don't know how to stop letting it get to me.

I've always had some very odd "quirks" or things that I do as a part of my daily life. They don't really bother me, but it would definitely bother me not to do them. For example, I always have to sit on the "correct" side of the bus, or go through the far door to my office, and I can't stand being in rooms with open doors, and if I start walking in a pattern I have to finish it, etc. I never really thought much about it before. But today I was describing to a friend of mine that I've always had this thing with numbers, where I have very, very strong intuitions about "good" and "bad" numbers, where every number has a sort of strong feeling associated with it, and she said that what I was describing sounded to her like a mild form of OCD. Does it? I guess it doesn't really matter one way or another, because I've always managed my life around it, but now I'm curious.

Is it bad if I'm not interested in sex but don't want to call myself asexual because I don't want to be associated with the immature Tumblr special snowflakes?

Or what if someone is only interested in the same sex but doesn't want to be called gay because they think it has negative connotations? People would call bullshit on that pretty quick and say they were self-loathing closet cases and decide that they were gay whether they liked it or not.

At what point do you have to use a certain label even if you don't like it?

what the hell happened to that place? It's dead compared to what it was a few months ago. I haven't been there in a long time but went to see if they had any extra info on a certain article, and it's like a ghost town compared to how it used to be, and none of the articles are even posted, just really poorly summarized blurbs and a picture...

Tumblr and fic

There's an attitude that, in general, Tumblr is a really bad place for fic. But I had an experience lately that makes me wonder.

Not long ago, I wrote a fic that deals with some rather uncomfortable themes. I posted it to Ttumblr, AO3, and FFN. Now, I have other fics in the same fandom on AO3 and FFN, and they've been well-received -- but they've also been straight-up shippy fics, whereas this latest was more of a character study. And this latest was not well-received at all on the archives, whereas the response on Tumblr has been very positive (and not just from my followers, but from denizens of the fandom in general).

Now, maybe the fic in question isn't actually very good. Maybe Tumblr is just an echo-chamber into which I've shouted. But I find it odd that the space that is supposed to be the least friendly toward fic and the most prone to mindless squee is the one where I've found an audience in this case.

What are your experiences with Tumblr and fic, and/or writing in general? Do you find that the characterization of it being unfriendly toward fic holds, or do you find the opposite?

In regards to that super gritty reboot:

Some ladies have taken the liberty of doing a female version of SPN. It has happened! And it's pretty good. I'll link it once I've found it! (And no, it was not super fans doing a dub over some mish mashed scenes of amber heard and whoever they headcanon as sam)
