If you could have one story written for every pairing you like and every pairing you will come to like, what would it be? Basically, what's that one story that you could have told over and over again with different characters and be satisfied?

I'm honestly surprised he hasn't been institutionalized yet after hitting that shop owner with his car and burning his house down. But it looks like he might be going away now.

He's been 'waging a war' against Sonic Boom for the past few months, because he doesn't like that Sonic's arms are blue. So, his 'waging war' meant vandalizing/hiding Sonic Boom merchandise. This lead to him being banned from Game Stop. Chris, after being told this, and being the asshole that he is, proceeded to pepper spray the employee who told him he was banned. The pepper spray, which knowing Chris, probably wasn't even pepper spray, ended up seriously injuring the employee. It's also illegal in his state in most cases, so he's due in court over it.

Some background: OK, the reason I never got into the vidya games when they first came on the scene was because the repetition/tediousness of grinding through the levels absolutely bored me to tears. This would have been in the '80s or so, but I even gave up on modern-day Sims b/c even with the hacked modules, there was still too much makework for me to have to do, to get it to where/what I wanted.

My question: Is it possible to get games these days are that basically like walkthrough novels on this mythical "easy" setting? I.e., no grinding, no dying, no resets, no weird traps, interesting characters/plot/worldbuilding/storylines? Like the Choose Your Own Adventures books. (Yeah, yeah, now I'm really dating myself.) Would prefer hard SF, but I am so not into the shoot-everything-you-see-as-you-meander-through-the-apocalypse thing.

TL;DR: Old fart wants to try new entertainment sources but doesn't want to have to work (too hard) for them.

How the devil has Clark Kent never been evicted from his apartment for missing rent? As Superman, he's always off in space saving planets or fighting planets. Sometimes he's gone for months on end. Clark is too broke to pay in advance, so how does that work out? Does he have some weird deal with his landlady?

so I got a job

I'm really excited about it! It's a real, full-time, grown-up job! (Up until now I've only worked part-time, when I wasn't just busy being a student)

I'll be moving out of my parents' house in a couple weeks. Job starts in January. It's a lab job with a healthcare provider.

I'm such an adult ^^

Sadly, one of the only major downsides is that it will drastically decrease my presence on F!S. It's a second-third-ish shift job, which means there are only two days out of the week I'll be online when F!S posts on time to have any reasonable discussion. I actually love the shift (I'm a total night owl) but I'll miss being able to come here nearly every day.

The corollary to that is I'll no longer be able to run the F!S book club. There's just no way I can do it when I can only make announcements two days a week at most. If anyone wishes to pick it up I will still participate! But sadly, I must step aside as organizer. I will still hold discussion for the December book though. I'll make a post about it below.

My antivirus warned me that a certain file could potentially be harmful to my computer. I clicked "Keep" instead of "Discard."

It took two antivirus programs, a system restore, and completely uninstalling Google Chrome, but all five resultant malware programs are finally gone.

Like no one around me understands my love for movies like White Christmas and the Court Jester. I love the movies with Bing and Fred playing each others foils. I love African Queen. I love Singing in the Rain. I love the big silly over blown musicals with lots of random ballroom dancing. I love the unnecessary custom changes. I love it all!

Is anyone else watching it?

I'm not even sure why I started watching it, but it's so silly and adorable. I don't remember when was the last time enjoyed a tv show so much.

I'm planing on watching the previous movies asap because sometimes I feel I'm missing a lot but still, I love it and I just can't wait for the next episode.

Asking for job references

I am applying to a job now that is asking for three references. Two are good to go, but for the third, I think I need to reach back to someone I interned for in 2012. I think we had a very good working relationship, and he has provided references for me in the past, but it's been so long now that it feels awkward just sending him an email out of the blue. Any advice for making the email not awkward?

Silly things you might regret

I just ate an entire pint of Ben & Jerry's Half-Baked while watching 22 Jump Street. The ice cream was good (even if I was looking for the peanut butter version) and the movie was fun...but nothing about those two hours was good for me.

Book club thread

As noted above, I am starting a job in a few weeks that will require me to be away from my computer for the entire evening roughly five days a week. As a result, I will no longer be able to run the book club.

If anyone wants to pick it up and take the helm, I'll provide them with all the information I have on the book club Google doc, and I'll definitely do my best to participate as well!

Sorry about having to step aside. I've enjoyed running and participating, but RL must, of course, come first.

I will however still hold discussion for All Creatures Great and Small, sometime in early-to-mid January. I'll keep you posted. :)
