As much as I prefer video games to television and movies (but maybe not comic books) I have to say I don't really get this secret. I think TV is more accessible and it's more ongoing, therefore it's going to have bigger fandoms.

I didn't even know there was the divide between FO3 being the better game and NV being more Fallout-y.

I've been replaying FO3 lately and I honestly had a lot more fun playing NV. I think Old War Blues was the most fun I've ever had playing a game.

Not a fan of this pairing - but besides the fact that I can't see Zack as much more than a teen crush for Aeris - I think CC and other spinoffs made me resent this pairing more. Mainly because of the characterization new fans often have of Aeris, that the spinoffs tend to support for whatever horrible reason. As you said, the portrayal of Aeris as angelic, sweet and virginal is grossly out of character at best. (Okay, there's no saying if she's a virgin or not, but she certainly doesn't act "virginal" in the real game)

Sorry newfans, but Aeris is a total freak and a troll to boot. I can't see her as anything other than kinky and sexual. Granted, some old fans seemed to see Aeris's pink dress and totally miss the point of her character, but Aeris's character assassination is one of the fandom's worst crimes. Alongside emo Cloud.

a queer character being the only thing someone knows about a series they've never watched/listened to is not reducing the character to their queerness. it would be if the people who actually watched/listened acted like their was nothing to their personality except it (but that's not the same as trying to draw diversity-minded people in with diversity).
