I am apparently very horny today.

So Ellen Degeneres tweeted my school to be on the quad at 3pm today...

...and to dress up as our favourite movie characters.

lots of people dressed up. (I did for the fun of it, knowing I wouldn't be recognized.) there was a huge crowd on the quad at 3pm. so what happened then? a whole lot of nothing. the rep started off by telling us that they wouldn't even be filming until 415, and that if our costumes weren't ostentatious, then we would probably be ignored. I mean yeah common sense, but it was pretty rude the way she said it in my opinion. so apparently they just went through the crowd for that hour and fifteen minutes, then eventually ellen was essentially skyping the quad, and the winner of the costume contest gets to go to the next taping of her show. I left before any of this happened, as did most of the original crowd, because it was about 20-25 degrees (F) and there was still snow on the quad, soaking everyone's feet.

tl;dr: if ellen tweets your college about a "big surprise", it might not even be anything cool.

anyone else have any cool stories lately? or tales of disappointment?

Theres a lot of shows i recommend to people and say, "try xyz episode its like the quintessential"...only a few shows do i actually recommend the pilot. What are some pilots that you think perfectly represent the show? For me:

Leverage! Tonally, writing quality, characters...it sets up everything and is consistent.

Remington Steele...it doesn't show how goofy Brosnan's character often was but otherwise fit right in.

My mum wants me to make travel plans. So suggest things for me! I'm already going to the Smithsonian with a friend, but other than that, we don't know where to go. My mum's a big fan of the show Eat Street so she wants me to find vegetarian/halal vendors and shops we can go to. And the two of us, being teachers, want to go and see a Muslim school over there, anyone know a place like that? Preferably a preschool/primary school, but older is fine. Oh and of course we want to see the mosques.

So, f!s, where would you recommend two lovely Muslim women who love cheap shopping and seeing the sights to go in DC? Most importantly: where are the good places to eat?

When my parents split up, my mom became pretty depressed. She was still working and providing for us, but she never laughed or cried, she showed no emotion at all, and she was always too tired to spend any time with us, doing stuff or just talking.

My sister and I were very affected (we were 4 and 6 respectively). Her way of coping was to take out her anxiety and anger on me. I became quiet and anxious.

To this day she still treats me like a subordinate, puts me down to feel better about herself, stuff like that. We don't live near each other anymore, and that made me evolve in ways I never thought I could. I love her a lot, but I also resent her and hate her a little, and sometimes I feel like it would be better if I just cut her off entirely, but my family would never understand or allow that.

So, he died. Heard it on the radio and was like, "holy shit." That man was brilliant. His movies were such a huge part of my childhood. He'd been sick for a while, though, so at least he's no longer suffering through that.

And I can't help but think about how good a thing it is that he and Bill Murray patched things up. Can you imagine falling out with a good friend and one of you dying before you had the chance to work things out? That'd be awful.

Anyway, just had to bring him up, F!S. It's a sad day.
