Advice needed - In-Fandom bullying

The fandom I'm currently is fairly toxic. I suppose many fandoms are when you get enough into them. My fandom is also largely split according to two ships. I didn't worry too much about the fandom drama and largely stayed out of it. That was until I discovered a certain BNFs twitter account. This girl had been friendly to me in the past, and even told me that I had the best blog on tumblr dedicated to one of our favourite characters. What she and her friend wrote about me on twitter was vile and extremely hurtful.
I've been trying to move on from this event ever since, but it hasn't been easy.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?
Do you have any tips that could help me move on?

Someone asked to translate a fic of mine. Opinions?

Today someone asked if they could translate my most popular fic into a foreign language. I've never been asked this before, and of course I'm thrilled.

Apparently, this person and a small group of friends are translating their favorite fics and posting them to a forum for the fandom in their own language. Credit is being given to the original authors, and a link back to the original story. I was sent a link to her user profile on the site, and can see other stories she is translating, and her own original fic. I would have no control over my fic on that site, it would be posted under her name.

I like the idea of my fic being translated, and nothing is stopping her from just doing it anyway and not telling me. I WOULD like to post a copy of the translation to my actual accounts on AO3 and FF.net, just to have them.

Any advice?

What are sone things you greatly enjoyed but for whatever reason (in hindsight it was scary, the twist is spoiled, too sad) don't want to experience again?

I loved Ringo/Weber's March Upcountry. Xenoanthropology and space marines and history geekery abd many characters I love...buuuut those characters go through the wringer and loads of them die and its all very intense and heartwrenching. I was glad to read it but i don'tknow if iI can again!

Is having an active fantasy life harmful?

(Inspired by a secret from yesterday.)

I don't mean sexual fantasies (or at least, not just sexual fantasies) but do you daydream a lot? I always have since I was a kid. Whenever I'm bored or tired or trying to fall asleep, I've told myself stories or made up daydreams where I'm off having adventures. Sometimes they feature celebrities, but sometimes they're just... I don't know, fun adventures that I'm not able to have in real life for one reason or another. I was kind of surprised to see a strong, "That's maybe not healthy" reaction from people about the OP's fantasy because I never thought mine were harmful. Mine are very important to me, and sometimes I do get caught up in daydreaming where I seem distracted in real life. My parents called it "head in the clouds". I like writing, so that's probably part of it.

So how about you? Do you daydream and make up stories in your head?

Has anyone else tried this? When I first saw the title I was scared, decided to give it a try since I realized Amy Poehler's producing it, and thought it was okay - the pilot episode wasn't overly impressive, but are they ever? I think it could be promising. It definitely didn't give me any "lol non-Americans are so WEIRD" vibes, but rather, seems to simply draw the differences between the two cultures.

Thoughts?

Common tropes/cliches you hate

Sorry if it's been done recently.

Mine are:

- the woman who is very good at something (generally related to fighting or sports) so she won't marry or love any man unless he can beat her at it.

- someone is about to be forced into marriage with someone they don't know or just aren't attracted to, and the fall in love with someone else... so the unwanted fiance becomes a huge butt monkey. I wouldn't mind it if the fiance were the one trying to force the marriage, but otherwise it seems a lot like we're supposed to believe they deserve to be treated poorly just for not being attractive to the protagonist.

- foreign food is always nasty or gross... well, I don't really hate it, but I can't really identify with it, because I'm a pretty picky eater, but more often than not when I try something new, I actually like it.

I'm beginning to get really annoyed at one of my acquaintances on Facebook. Lately all she's been posting are really passive aggressive updates with a vague description of what the hell it might be about or who her anger is aimed at. It's just gotten to the point where I wish I could yell, "SHUT UP!"

Anyway, thanks to her I figured out that's one of my major pet peeves. People who post really vague, passive aggressive statuses on Facebook.

Getting back on the horse

F!S, how do you get back up after all your motivation's gone?

Recently I was writing a long fic after being away from writing for a couple of years. I have it all planned out chapter-by-chapter, up til about midway, and I've already written several chapters and betaed them. Two chapters were already published.

But then I had to stop for a while, because I was busy with RL work. During that time I had a relapse of depression and anaemia, so I was exhausted all the time and could barely get my work in.

Now I tried getting back to writing again. I'm still busy IRL but I want to try.

The beta sent me back my chapters and I decided to edit them because I didn't think they were up to standard. And that feels like it's killed all motivation for this fic. I'm trying to edit and it's not going anywhere and the words aren't doing what they're supposed to. It's not matching what I wanted in my head, and I hate it.

Meanwhile I see all these other people updating novel-length fics and writing prolifically, and I can't even read fics for the pairing anymore because I feel like a failure.

I want to finish it. This is such a simple thing. It's only fanfiction, for fuck's sake! It's not like a novel (which I eventually want to write as well.)

But I just don't know how to get my motivation back. What do I do, F!S?
