Full disclosure time: Anyone believe in them? Have memories? OR, if you don't, do you think there's other explanations for PL memories?

It's... complicated. I have mixed feelings. Sometimes I think I have glimmers of memories, but honestly, I also think the brain is pretty creative. That doesn't explain three year olds who've accurately described a war zone, although even then I've wondered how many just saw a scary movie. (The parents will say "we don't let Johnny watch movies with guns", but how do you know a sitter or older sibling didn't? Or that Johnny didn't slip downstairs one night when Mommy and Daddy were asleep?


Having said that, the concept itself makes sense to me. I've always thought I was very religious, but rebellious at the same time. It's interesting. As a kid I was almost too much of a goody two-shoes, and out of nowhere I started thinking I "had" to go to church. (My parents are not churchgoing types, although they're also the sort who were fine with my choice to do so.)

I also swear I remember my Mom telling me Bible stories, but she denies it and my Dad can't remember her ever being religious. So that's creepy.

I don't know if I believe in them, but more than that, I don't know if I want to believe in them. The idea of constantly living through the cycle of human abuse over an over again, Jesus it sounds bad. But on the other hand a second chance is always good. On the third hand, tho, I'm quite comforted to know I won't be around when the earth dies, but if I have to keep coming back until it's over, Man that's depressing.

No, but Id like to believe. I like that idea more than nothingness or an afterlife on some ethereal plane.

As for the memories: I think brains are weird things, and sometimes we thing what are memories are something else, and sometimes things that are memories are repressed.

it was so, it was not, in a time long forgot.
I believe/don't believe but this Schroedinger's belief strongly influences my real life, choices I make, who I am. So even if I never find *her* again we will have lived back then because we did in my mind.
... but I AM constantly wondering if someone doesn't share the same not!memories because the only other explanation for some of the stuff I recognize in fiction as inexplicably familiar is severe paranoia.

Gimme yo' recipes for savory pies

I don't live in much of a pie-eating culture but I have that idea stuck in my head that there has to be some sort of meat pie that's as delightfully mushy and wholesome as apple-sweet potato pie but savory, with lamb, beef and/or pork as the main ingredient.
So, if there are any pie-experience people among you, can you point me to how I might prepare such fabled ambrosia myself?

I was going to ask about a specific person, but actually I think that other people might also want to know about other people, so here we have this thread.

I was listening to a radio interview today with Brian Blessed and I was just thinking "Man what a cool old.. erm white... male... Oh dear" and I started to get quite worried about if it's actually ok to be a fan of his. I'm not saying being an old white male is bad, but some, hell most of them had done horrible shit or said horrible shit or believe horrible shit so:

Can anyone tell me if Brian Blessed has ever raped anyone, harmed a PoC, Said anything sexist, racist, homophobic or transphobic, Done, said, or been any kind of socially regressive douche? I'm hoping that the answer is "No" but if he's secretly a piece of shit I'd rather know.

And If anyone else has anyone they'd like to ask this corner of the internet about, this would be the thread to do it.

I know I'm two years late to the party but I keep craving a Let It Go filk/parody that would go "Let It Snow" and be sung either by an Elsa that was never afraid of her powers, or after the end of the movie when she accepts them and rekindles her relationship with Anna gods it sounds so shippy when I phrase it that way.
Problem is, even if I love playing with words and I'm quite at it in my native language, I can't do as well in English and a rhymes dictionary is not enough to help me out here.

I know so many stupendous people who don't think they're any good and it makes me sad.

Depression and its attendant crap are like......idk, the most obnoxious possible person in a lecture or group meeting, who won't fucking stop arguing their irrelevant, dubiously factual points louder and louder and don't care what valid, reasonable, compassionate things other people say. I hate that guy.

Idk where I'm going with this? Don't listen to the asshole made of mixed up chemicals inside your brain when they say you're no good, yawl. You're great. I promise there are people who are so proud of you they could burst.

Doing online dating when you live in a small town and don't want to do a long distance relationship is interesting. I'd come across several people I knew/recognized yesterday. And because of my job, i get to meet a lot of local people.

Today my search returned a guy whose ex wife tried to murder him in his sleep. He used to beat the crap out of her on a regular basis...she had the attempted murder charges dropped when she went to trial. Sad thing is, he still has their kids. Anyway, blocked him. I just hope he didn't see my profile before I blocked him.

Also had a pm from a guy wanting to hook up. His typing was atrocious and he wasn't my type physically either.

I figured this would be interesting and I was not wrong....

We are reading Maurice by E. M. Forster for May. Discussion date tentatively set for the 31st - if you have a preference for June 1st, please comment! I just realized that May 30th is Memorial Day, so I'd like to take that out of the running - I may have plans with my family, and if I don't, it seems likely others will. But the 31st and 1st are both fine for me so far. I'll set it for the 31st if I don't hear anyone voice a preference.
