I was recently talking to a friend, and they confided this with me, and we both realised that we weren't unique in this. I'm curious now how common this actually is.

Neither of us had homophobic parents, speaking from religious worry or anything, they just thought we were gay and tried to encourage us to "be ourselves".

So I got a ton of replies and I did read all of them but I didn't have time to respond to all of them, but thanks to everyone who answered! It was neat seeing how you all started out, and it was good to know that the terrible self-insert fanfiction I wrote (and thankfully never shared) was actually pretty normal considering I was, like, 12.

It'll probably take me a while to have the guts to post something (even anon) that I wrote, but til then I'll just write out whatever my plot bunnies demand. :P
