So I just spent an hour crying. Went to the dentist for the first time in ohhhhhh 10 years (I finally have a job!) because they were having some kind of deal for teeth cleaning and X-Rays and an exam.

I have a lot of cavities and need to get my teeth scaled (I think that is what he said). All in all it is going to cost $2000+. Which...there is no way I can afford. He gave me the bill. I paid for my exam and x-ray, scheduled for a teeth cleaning ($250), and then sat in my car and cried.

And I will be losing half a day of work for the next appointment. You know, to add insult to injury I guess.

Anyone else having a better day?

Thanks all that voted The Lego Movie for me to see. It was enjoyable! But I find that things move too fast and since I think too much, wanted to see all the in jokes and references. But to quote one of my favorite shows, I really "should just relax". (And turn down the lights where applicable.)

TMI question thread

Here's a TMI question that's been bugging me for a while.

for context: cis woman.

I have a weird itch on the front of my crotch. It's right at the bottom of my mons where the labiae majorae start. I looked and it doesn't appear to be near or related to my clit (though it might be at the veeeery base of the hood, hard to tell). It's not always there but sometimes it itches so hard that I scratch it until it burns. It's always in this specific place, not anywhere else (well I occasionally itch in other places but that's no stronger or more frequent than an itch on my nose or whatever).

I don't think I have dry skin down there - I don't wash it with soap, and if I had an issue like that, wouldn't it affect the whole vulva? Maybe it's just something weird/something else?

I'm not seeing my gyn again until this summer. Was wondering if anyone had a similar experience/possible explanation.

You know, like when "everyone knows" that Lois Lane is in love with Superman and not Clark Kent even though this hasn't been true since the 1980s.

Or when "everyone knows" that Watchmen is the name of a superhero team even though it really, really isn't.

Or when "everyone knows" that Darth Vader blew up Alderaan even though it was actually Grand Moff Tarkin.

Or when "everyone knows" that Vulcans have no emotions, when they actually have very strong emotions that they keep under strict control.

That sort of thing. Be as nitpicky and snobby and "damn kids get off my lawn" as you want -- that's part of the fun!

My last non-kid-having friend just found out she's pregnant. She's the oldest of our group and the only one that's actually mature and responsible so I'm sure she'll be a great mom but I hate being the only one left without kids and a husband. I basically lost all the rest of my friends when they had kids. Now that their kids are a little older they do have "girls nights out" but I've only gone a few times because they literally talk about nothing else except their husbands and kids.

I mentioned how I felt to my mom and she told me I'm being selfish and that getting married and having kids is a part of life that everyone eventually does and if I want to be the "weird one" and not do those things myself then I'm just going to have to accept losing all my friends. Gee, thanks Mom. :/

SO APPARENTLY there's been a few people in the Hannibal fandom accusing Bryan Fuller of queerbaiting with Will & Hannibal.

I just...

you know what, you guys are right! the queer community deals with many issues, such as lack of human rights in many countries, discrimination, high levels of homelessness, poverty, sexual assault, depression & suicide, and hate crimes.

But the real issue here is clearly representation!

But not just ANY representation. (like happy couples who don't die as penance for their queerness.)

No. We need it in the form of a cannibalistic serial killer and the FBI profiler he manipulates, traumatises, frames for murder (and, in the books, guts him with a knife, and sics another serial killer on his wife and kids.)

hannigram being canon is what the queer community TRULY NEEDS. and how can we best accomplish this? why, by arguing on the internet, attacking the creators of the show, and sending each other anonymous, hate-filled messages!

and clearly Bryan Fuller is a complete MONSTER for refusing to air the reels of sexy mads/hugh footage that must exist (and that he probably hoards for his personal enjoyment.)

this is why i don't get involved in fandom i should have known better. and i do think having more queer people in popular media is important, but NOT IN THE FORM OF A CANNIBALISTIC MURDERER WHY WOULD YOU EVEN SUGGEST THAT.

i am so sick of people using social justice issues as cards to play just to win an argument. like "oooh look at me i'm so enlightened here let me drop some buzzwords i found in my sociology textbook to back up my fandom argument because this is clearly better than helping out at the local homeless shelter or charity or something."

and i am sick of people sitting on their asses arguing on the internet so they can feel like they're *~ making a difference ~*

and why the fuck do people care whether their ship is canon or not, why does it matter??? people ship characters from different universes and it doesn't stop them!

So there were quite a few people who didn't get to finish yesterday. I figure we should at least finish what we started. (Seriously, I have used the same character the past three times we've done this and it's never been guessed. Also, I will get the answer for D Anon!)

Second Round of Botticelli!

The rules:

If you are the picker:
1) Pick a character and tell us the first letter of their name.
2) When people ask leading questions about who they think you are try to figure out who they're referring to. If you know who it is answer the question with, "I am not ________." If you don't know then tell the other person.
3) When people ask a Yes/No question because you did not know the character they were referring to in their previous question answer truthfully.
4) Repeat steps 2-3.

If you are the guesser:
1) Pick someone's letter!
2) Ask them if they are a specific character without using the character's name. For example: "Are you the Boy Who Lived?" for Harry Potter.
3) If the picker guesses correctly find another character to ask a leading question about.
4) If the picker doesn't know tell them who you were referring to and ask them ONE Yes/No question about their character. For example: "Are you from a TV show?"
5) Repeat steps 1-4

If you are returning from yesterday list the answers to the Yes/No questions and what characters you have been guessed as being that you are not.

For example:
1) I am a Man.
2) I'm from TV.
3) I am not Spock, Stiles, or Stephen Colbert.
