I can kind of get what you're saying OP because I always liked female Ranma more then male Ranma, maybe it's Hayashibara Megumi's voice but she always felt cuter.

I mean Ranma is an ass no matter what but I understand feeling like there is a slight difference.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show was incredibly important to my self-discovery and coming out in my 20s. It was my first bi character on screen, and a show was the first time I wore a dress in public.

Performances were for everyone. Period.

I fear the revival will be a battleground for identity policing and ownership slapfights. You can't read a character as sharing your orientation without being accused of erasure these days.

... and that would be missing the entire fucking point.

I really like kidfic. I find it super relaxing and read or write as much
as I can find. I also coo over babies whenever I see them while
out shopping or on places like youtube.

But in real life I have no interest in having children. Even family
members saying “you’ll want them one day” annoy me.

The only children I find remotely interesting are fictional or
someone else’s.

There’s a popular incest ship in every fandom I’ve joined lately, involving my favorite character of said fandom. So far, I’ve stayed out of it; «it’s not my thing», but I swear, I get closer and closer to starting to ship them all for each one I see. It’s a goddamn conspiracy.

I joined a facebook group that said it was geared towards older fans, thinking it would be a good fit.

Instead it's all middle aged ladies with kids who got into fandom within the past year. So they're total babyfans, but think they're experts and so mature.

Pairings are canon or they're crack, writing anything with a non-canon "crack ship" makes it an AU, drabbles are supposed to be 10k plus words and novellas are anything under 500 words, male/female pairings are slash because look there's a slash in it, and Dr. Who is the official spelling and also his name is Who, duh.

If I try to say anything about how that's not really how most mainstream fandom defines things I get dogpiled and mocked. And anyway fandom words aren't real words so they can define them however they want.

I just want to hang out with people who remember geocities and mailing lists, the rise and fall of livejournal, that there has always been epic wank as long as fandom has existed, and that meta and shipping can coexist peacefully.

I feel like everything's been taken over by babyfans, and I feel like you can't complain about them without sounding like an elitist jerk gatekeeper. I like new fans, I just wish there was a place for us older fans too.

I'm 21, in anime fandom, and most of my fandom friends are the same age as me or older. Yes, there are lot of pre-teens and teens that are into anime, but maybe you just aren't looking hard enough?
