Free Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim download for 360

So I had to replace my original model 360 with one of the shiny new ones. Does anyone want my downloadable Skyrim redemption code (obviously you need LIVE, but...)? Since I bought the game on amazon I have no need of it. The only people I could give it to already have it, don't want it, or would never use it, sooo I'm hoping someone here will be interested. If you private message me (would rather not give out my email) I'll PM you back with the code. (Well, to the first person to PM me I will. WISH I HAD MORE THAN ONE FOR YOU GUYS.)

I feel like I am the only one who wishes Christmas would go back to its religious roots and become a single day of holy observation with maybe some gift exchanging. Because if I have to listen to one more muzak Christmas tune being played over head in every store or have someone yell at me, "Hurry, you only have so many shopping days!" or have one of my shows do a cheesy, eye rolling very Christmas episode, I am going to ring a reindeer's neck.

And this is coming from a Catholic.

I walked into a Whole Foods today and instead of Christmas music playing, they had KISS playing. Don't even like KISS but I wanted to have the babies of who ever set that store's music out of appreciation.

For those not in the know, do you have a specific question that you've always wanted to ask someone from another country but was too afraid that it sounded stupid? Always wanted to ask an American are "toga parties" like in the movies real? Puzzled about how White Day and Valentine's Day work in Japan but was too afraid to ask a Japanese person about it? Then this thread is for you.

Knowing I'm gone from this department early new year I've just stopped giving a fuck.

Pretty liberating feeling.

Dedicating my remaining time to straight crushing passengers morale.

This is probably not the wisest move, but screw it I know how to play the system, my boss has my back, and it's way too fun. That moment when they realise the vast discrepancy between their presumed 'customer is always right and we will bend over to take anything to make you happy' and the reality is too delicious to pass on.

Have you ever had the experience where you watch or read a fictional scene, and it just vividly reminds you of a scene from a totally unrelated book/show/movie/whatever? (Not counting intentional parodies and stuff of course).

Like, I watch that scene at the end of Captain America where Fury drives up to waylay Steve in Time's Square, and I keep expecting the "Welcome to the world of tomorroooooowww!" guy from Futurama to show up behind him.

Hello everyone! I wanted to apologize for yesterday; I was hoping that coming home for the holidays would mean I'd be able to post animal pics more easily, but alas, the opposite is the case.

Because of the difference, what I'm going to do from now until winter break is over is this; every day I'm going to set up two posts on my blog. If I am able to post them to f!s, I'll do so, but if I am not, I'll post a link to the posts from my phone. Also, spider pics will be under a cut.

Does that work for everyone? :)

I had the worst weekend

Like, in retrospect, it doesn't even seem possible. First my laundry room floods Friday at midnight with a hundred gallons of water (I know because I emptied it out with a mop and a 5 gallon bucket, a three hour endeavor) and then the wet carpet inside freezes by morning because our furnace is out. I meant to go to a friend's graduation but couldn't because I had to wait for the guy to come repair the pipes. When he gets there, he warns me not to touch a nearby outlet because "it's a 220, and that's dangerous." Come Sunday, I'm trying to do laundry and the 220 outlet—the one I wasn't supposed to touch—explodes, and lights the dryer hose on fire. It destroys two ceiling tiles before I get it out.

Then as the cherry on my Sunday, my brother calls me while I'm eating dinner, and he's in tears, because apparently one of his friends murdered one of his other friends. This weekend needs a goddamn do-over, because no way was anyone ready for Monday. >:|

So, my dad has always been somewhat clueless socially speaking. He's also a hypocrite with anger management and control issues. When he started getting physically violent a few years ago by throwing random things when he got angry, I stopped all contact with my parents. That was when my best friend intervened and gave my parents "marriage counseling" and got them to treat me like an adult, among other things. I moved back with them a while ago because dad tore a nerve in his shoulder and my mom's arthritis started getting worse. It was ok at first but then dad started yelling and screaming at everyone for the littlest things again.

I spoke with a counselor at school a few months ago about this and we decided on a few points of discussion/plan of attack. The only thing that has changed since then was the wording of insults/rants. There were no changes at all in attitude. And yesterday... he started the insults again. He'd asked me to move the groceries from our enclosed porch inside the house. Since it's winter so the groceries were not going to rot on the porch or anything and I was busy studying, I told him I'd do it later. He said he was gonna go out for a bit and when he came back within half an hour, he started yelling at me for not bringing in the groceries. He yelled at me for sitting in front of the computer all day, saying I can't live without it and stuff like that. Then he finished with, "you really do have something wrong with your head."

For the record, I was studying for my programming exam which was this morning. All my notes, lecture slides and practice labs are on the computer but no, computers are the evilest things ever even though dad spends all his free time either watching tv or surfing the net.

I ended up playing a lot of plants vs zombies after that.

And then today, after I got back home from school, I wore my winter jacket into my room and wrapped my blankets around me because I was cold. Dad saw that and asked, "you're wearing your jacket in your room. Don't you need to take it off?" "No." "You're hot, you should take it off." "NO I'm not." "Take off the jacket." "NO I'M COLD I'M NOT TAKING OFF THE JACKET!" Then he got all upset that I yelled at him when he was only "caring about me."

He asked if I was sick after finishing his rant about me not appreciating him.

I was sick last week and I'm still feeling weak. I don't know if I'm still sick but I'm definitely not feeling well and it shouldn't take a genius to figure that out.

I know one of the things I'm supposed to work on is changing my expectations of what I think dad should act like and see things from his point of view. It's just really difficult to do that when he doesn't say what he means clearly and then blows up when he doesn't get the reaction he wants. He laughs when I point out how unclear he is being and says I should be able to figure out what he means from context. Like the thing today - he never asked how I was feeling. He insisted I take off the jacket and said I was hot when I clearly wasn't. How the hell was I supposed to get "I'm concerned about your health" instead of some arbitrary "no jacket indoors" rule from that? And when I said no repeatedly, he never asked why not. He just kept trying to get me to take off the jacket.

I'm still upset. I have more exams coming up but all I want to do is sleep and shut everything down. I'm also starting to want to get a knife and watch blood flow down my arm. I know that isn't healthy but I don't want to kill myself. That's good right? I mean, it's not good but it's not that bad right?

Fuck it all.

Race and physical attraction

At risk of this dissolving hopelessly into wank, I'm curious. There was a thread under a "non-fandom-secrets" thread a while ago that made me think of this. Basically, is there any race you're particularly attracted to?

While most races I'm not particularly biased for or against, I have noticed that the attributes considered conventionally attractive in Asian countries are closer to what attracts me than the conventionally attractive celebrities in Western media... despite the fact that I'm American. Most white American celebrities? Resounding meh. Most Korean celebrities? Yes please.

I guess it's not exactly a racial bias so much as a cultural one, since there are still plenty of people of other races I find attractive as well, but I just thought it was interesting.

I tend to be attracted to people who are white and have white facial characteristics, like a square jaw or chin. Sometimes I'll see a really cute asian guy and think he's attractive, but it's pretty rare. I also like cute, tall, trim black guys. Bonus points if any of the above are nerdy. Generally I like guys with nice eyes though.
