Been in one for 25 years (married), known him for over 30. I am white, he is not. Before I married, my parents begged me to find "a nice white boy" because "think of how your children will be rejected by everyone because they don't belong anywhere". Yeah, they actually said that, aloud, to me.

Well, I wasn't interested in children and neither was he, and to be perfectly frank, the ONLY people to EVER comment on my relationship or give me the stinkeye because I was with a non 2hite man have been white people, exclusively. An ex friend of mine actually said " Well hell, at least he ain't a n*****."

I've been on dates with people from other countries, and of different ethnicites, and I've had major crushes, but it's never gone past that. I've only ever had two longterm relationships, and both were pretty similar to me in terms of background, just how it's worked out so far.

My mom and brother would not be shocked by that, though my cousin got some flack from certain members of the family from living with a black guy and having his kid...

My Dad is a full fledged white supremacist, but I don't talk to him and don't give a flying fuck what he thinks.

Best way to learn languages when you aren't in college anymore?

I'm trying to learn... well, a few languages. Anyone have any good language learning resources? I'm trying to learn Norwegian in particular, which is a little more unusual and I don't think there are as many resources out there as there are, say, Spanish. But what kind of recommendations do you have? Whether free online, or if you've had good experiences with something you've paid money for.

I'm also trying to learn two dead languages: Latin, which isn't too hard to find resources for (though I think I might invest in a summer school somewhere, recommendations please if anyone has them) and... Old Norse. Which I can hardly find anything for. If anyone has any dead language tips, I'd appreciate them too! :)

Genfic recs

I want to read more genfic. It's so difficult to find genfic, especially on AO3. The fandoms I'm interested in at the moment are ASOIAF/Game of Thrones, Dragon Age (whole franchise), Temeraire, Star Wars (especially Rebels! I need more Rebels fic), and Harry Potter, though I also read Avatar: The Last Airbender and Rurouni Kenshin, if you have any.

Feel free to ask for recs of other types of fic that you like.
