I personally have hopes that the age difference being more visible (well, visible in human terms considering he's 100s of years older really) will change the currently established dynamic somewhat BUT

I have also been around Doctor Who long enough to know that even the classic Doctors with their not-as-conventional looks get shipped with companions so I won't be annoyed to see shipping. It happens. If it's not my thing I just walk on by.

Would like to point out though that I agree with you that older doesn't mean people can't find him attractive!

I would have liked the romance better if it hadn't been a love triangle. Like if Katniss and Gale really were just friends, or if Peeta really had been acting. But no.

I ... hadn't realised they were? So far I'd thought the intimidation factor was spread fairly evenly between the three musketeers (and even d'Artagnan when he was on his vengeance kick, and when he was stalking Vadim). The one time they've done deliberate scare tactics as part of an interrogation, it was Aramis doing the terrifying, with Porthos as back-up.

Episode three was slightly different, of course, but then again in episode three Porthos had an extremely personal reason for hating Bonnaire's guts and spending considerable time looking like he wanted to kill him.

If you just mean the more 'physically big and scary' thing, Porthos was always the biggest and most physically intimidating of them, Aramis is usually the ice-cold and erudite type of scary, and Athos is the one you think might randomly slaughter people in a drunken stupor in the throes of guilt/madness/grief.

Also, object-based designs have been around since gen 1, so I really don't get why people seem so insistent lately that a Pokémon being based on an object is inherently bad.

But I still don't like Garbodor's design. :/

I really like fantasy, but the icky racial undertones it has is a big problem for me - with very strictly separate "races" that are very different from one another and each of them has specificities, not as far as physical appearance is concerned, but even with the type of work they are able to do, etc. It always bothers me so much. (To the point where I would be really interested to write a PhD on racist undertones in fantasy, it's a topic that I very rarely hear mentioned, beyond the "there are no PoC in this fantasy novel because it's not ~historically accurate~ now shut up and look at this burly barbarian fighting dragons with a rapier")

You know, I'm like 51% sure that anon message is a troll or a joke. Looks like something some anti-sj blog would send just to laugh at the people who take it seriously afterwards. Just 51% though. You never really know with Tumblr

But yeah, agreed. I can see how ableism can be a real problem (people not taking mental illnesses seriously and so on) but words like 'dumb' being ableist? That's just a lot of whining to me.
