What is everyone having for dinner or for whatever their next meal is?

It is snowing here again and so my planned grocery trip is out. So I ordered Japanese. Stir fry and sashimi.

I'm actually going to cook tonight! :D Went grocery shopping yesterday and planned it and everything. I'm making pan-seared pollock with lime and other seasonings, and steamed green beans.

I haven't cooked in such a long time and I really want to do it more.

Today I am making dinner for the family which includes garlic bread, homemade tomato sauce with ground beef, and angel hair. Yum yum.

The best part? LEFTOVERS FOR DAYS!!!!!!

My parents are taking me out for dinner! Which is nice, because I haven't seen them in a while.
(also, not having to pay for a meal is a definite plus)

Yeah, I have been known to smell like patchouli, Prius, and shitty Mike's Hard.

I've got a single wedge of naan bread left, might polish that off later on. Gotta do groceries tomorrow.

Novels about forests

Does anyone know any novels about forests or woods, and life within them. The sort of book that has the forest almost as a character itself and focuses a lot on atmosphere and mood. Basically the literary version of scenery porn?

I can understand them being upset about people saying things like retarded, lame, idiot, crazy, dumb. Basically most of my vernacular is somehow ableist now. Except one word...and now THAT is also ableist.

I got dogpiled for saying "stupid" in a post. What the hell? Why? How is that ableist?

i feel like fandomsecrets is too insular. i know some fsers hate tumblr, has anybody tried advertising us on there? i know plenty of people who grew up on tumblr and don't know about livejournal/dreamwidth and the confession blogs for my fandoms are pretty dead.

Is there a name for this disorder? Is it even one?

There seems to be a name for everything else, so I'm sure there's a name for this: what is it called when you can achieve intimacy with a stranger or acquaintance, but not with friends and family? (As in, it's easier to be intimate with someone the less you know them).

A lot of us are probably already familiar with how it's easier to emotionally unload on a complete stranger than it is on someone you know. My particular problem is that for over a year, every time I tried to have PIV sex with my boyfriend, it never worked out, to the point I was starting to think I might have a medical problem of some kind - but I could use sex toys just fine, and on top of the lack of sex, I found just sleeping next to time something that took a fair bit of mental work on my part. But not too long ago, I had a one night stand with an acquaintance and I had it just fine, and slept fine with him afterwards, too.

I know there's a version of this in children - if kids can bond to strangers but not to caregivers, it's usually indicative of RAD, though this wasn't a problem I had as a kid, since I had a pretty good relationship with my parents. But is there a version of this in adults? What's it called?
