Why do you go anon vs having a sock or using a regular account?

I did use an account for a while. When I came back to FS after not visiting for a few months I just never used it again. I find other anon spaces intimidating and confusing, but for some reason this one is just anon enough that it stops me from lurking. I don't use anon to troll or be an asshole. I'm just insecure and like the idea of each comment being evaluated by itself without any preconceptions about how socially inept I am.

Reading actual books

It's really sad for a while now I spent a good deal of my free time reading, but 95-98% of it is fanfics and not actual books. I've only read books recently for classes (and that failed attempt at reading Anna Karenina) and I'd like to get back to reading published stuff.

I'm not sure how many other people have this problem.
Also what are some classics I-should-read-before-I-die to start me off? I'm stuck between first reading some of Hauki Marukami's works or a classic.

I'm 160 centimetres short tall, weight 53 kilograms, with C-cup breasts.
A friend let me try their "model 1700" from T-Kingdom.com, Size M. It's my size and this model is supposed to do great for bindng even big breasts and yet... it doesn't fit. I overflow at the sides and my chest still sports a rather awkward-looking bump.

So... would another model work better, should I squeeze myself in a Size S instead, or what?

When You Feel Like Ordinary Advice Completely Ignores Your Culture

I work at a somewhat small business that is almost entirely staffed by Russian immigrant Jews. I am younger than everyone else, but I grew up within this culture too, so I know it pretty much inside-out.

So I find it pretty ridiculous when, if I have a spat with another employee, all my American friends tell me to talk to the boss. I literally cannot do that without making my life a living hell. Being an "informer" is pretty much the worst possible thing you can do in this culture. If I complain to the boss, half the staff will cease speaking to me, and the half on my side will start an all-out passive-aggressive war. (There are already "factions" at my work over certain personal slights. No, I'm not kidding. Two people at my work have been fighting because one gave the other a piece of cake in an aggressive manner. Many more animosities have brewed over people forgetting to say, "Good Morning". It's always assumed you're ignoring them on purpose.)

Our boss is an American WASP who has no idea about this culture at all. He doesn't understand that when there's an argument, the only thing to be done is separate the arguers and don't fuel the fire. Let them ignore each other in a snide way. But he tries to talk to them about good American business practice in complicated English that they half-understand, firing someone for annoying another because he doesn't understand how important either are to the business. He mostly doesn't even try to understand how his staff thinks, secluding himself up in his office and never being quite sure what the staff is doing, then coming downstairs and demanding to know where things are that he never asked for, or didn't describe correctly.

Anyway, sorry about the rant. I'm just so tired of trying to apply American thought patterns to a non-American workplace.

Activist Communities

So, in a bit of real talk, I've found myself becoming increasingly disenfranchised with activist communities. And as much as it might surprise some people here I guess, I was very into them for years (heavily involved in LGBT society at Uni, which was sort of a central focal point - and followed it on online after graduation).

Just everything about them has slowly gotten to me, to the point I find them basically intolerable to have any real discussion in.

Anyone else followed the same path? I guess the final straw was getting called a rape apologist and troll for pointing out just what a stupid idea it is to carry a knife for defence.

I suppose as a non-VEM my perspective might be different, but anyone else here undergone the same process?

If you could only rewatch three episodes of your favorite shows for the rest of your life...

If you had to pick just three episodes from each of your favorite shows, and for the rest of your life, those three episodes would be the only episodes of that show you could ever rewatch (not counting new episodes that haven't aired yet), which three episodes of each show would you choose?

Remember, there could be a difference between the episodes you'd like rewatching most, and your favorite episodes! For example, Jurassic Bark is my favorite episode of Futurama, but it's not an episode I'd be desperate to watch over and over again. Instead, the episodes I'd choose from that show are Time Keeps On Slippin', The Sting, and The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings.

(For the purpose of this thread, two-parters count as just one episode).

Sexy Accents

I have a question for you all! I know that a lot of Americans find accents attractive, especially if English isn't the persons first language. So, my question is, do people from other countries find our accent (generally speaking) attractive? For example, when an American is speaking French, do France/Paris natives find that alluring at all? It's hard to gain perspective on this. Help!

I've gained some pounds on a medication I recently stopped taking, so, hoping to maybe lose some of it again, I tried a bunch of different calorie ranges to see what would happen. Turns out I can only mantain my current weight if I eat fewer than 1000 calories per day, and if I want to lose anything at all, I have to cut the number in half. 500. I'm not doing that. I can't do that. Maybe I could handle it physically, but never psychologically.

Problem is, I'm having a reduction in March, so I need to get to my target weight, and fast. The amount they're willing to take off is dependent on the proportions of my body, and I want as little boobage remaining as possible. Losing the weight later on will leave me with a larger chest than I could have if I lose it all now. and there's no way I'm having two surgeries. I'm running out of time and there's nothing I can do...

If you are in decent shape and have no major medical issues, I'm going to suggest David Kirsch's Ultimate New York body plan: two week body makeover. It will change your body, but the dietary restrictions are extensive, so I would suggest discussing it with your doctor before doing it. Especially since you have surgeries coming up.

If you are not in great shape, do the month long conditioning version. It may also work for you, it has less dietary limits but pumps up your metabolism.

I did it and went from a 12 to an 8 in two weeks. I didn't lose many pounds, but I lost a lot of inches. After I reintroduced most foods into my diet gradually. I kept that weight off for five years till I was in an car accident. Now I use a brace for my knee and my arms are in constant pain. I don't do as much working out as I used to.
